I am glad they decided to elaborate further on The Neverending Story. After purchasing the first trilogy recently, I was quite disappointed with some of the special effects and half-hearted attempts. Tales of the Neverending Story is quite different. It explains what happened in the first movie a lot better than the actual first movie does, and it has much better special effects and a better performance by most characters. If you have read the novel, you might not like this movie because it doesn't stay true to it; if you're like me and want a better rendition of the first movie, this is the one you need to purchase.

All the Neverending Stories start out the same, though the actors are not. About a boy, who after suffering a loss or stressing over daily activities of some kind, finds himself taking shelter in a book store. The book store owner usually suggests other books to the boy, leaves the room for some reason and the boy swipes (borrows) the book. As he leaves and finds refuge somewhere he then reads the book and is immersed into a fantasy word where he is injected into the fantasy as the main character.
This movie has less than real-like animals and isn't as well done as some of the others, I found the animals to be Un-real like.
However, no matter, the KIDS LOVE IT !!!!
