Unbelievable cast in one of the best hostage movies to date. Makes movies like Hostage, The Seige or The Negotiator seem overly commercial.
These Kidnappers are mean, daring, and unique. Shaw is masterful as the leader of the group who take a NY subway train hostage demanding a million or everyone dies. Matthau is great as the Transit Cop banging heads with the terrorists. The opening scene when he's giving visitors from Tokyo's transit authority a tour of the NY facility and he makes fun of them in english not realizing they understood him is classic.
The film's was made in the 70's so the effects are minimal but it's still a great timepiece. If you've never seen it you won't be disapointed. Two thumbs up!
