n the beginning it seems that it was going to be an easy to watch movie, but after a short time it turned into a high-speed action movie. I found the story original and fresh. I was completely taken away by this movie. Liam Neeson in one of his best performances. It had good action, a good story, some humor. There are also some sensitive / sentimental scenes. There are no plot twists. It is just a story being told. This is one of those movies which stay in your memory for a while and let you think about bad things that happen. If you like James Bond with some HitMan and Transporter mixed in, you'll like Taken.

This was a great movie from the very start to the very end. It is about a daughter that is kidnapped overseas...but they have definitely messed with the wrong dad. He is an elite agent with years of training that knows that he only has a few hours before his daughter is lost forever. Excellent movie!

  Lives up to the hype

Liam Neeson (Schindler's List, Michael Collins & Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and many more titles) stars as a retired CIA agent in this action packed thriller.

When his daughter Kim, played by Maggie Grace (The Fog, Suburban Girl & The Jane Austen Book Club) is abducted in Paris Neeson springs into action using his former skills to track down the abductors and find his daughter.

Once you get past the introduction of the characters the movie is full of action with car chases, foot chases, hand to hand fighting and much more.

The nearly 57 year old Neeson is not particularly known as an action star but his pulls this role off with flying colors.

The movie carried a lot of hype into it's DVD release and it manages to live up to most of that hype.

I rate this movie a solid 4 of 5 and recommend it for it's good action and drama.

Liam Kicks Ass. And He Should He's The Man.

Bringing things into the future, we see how a concerned father really doesn't leave his daughter wanting for anything. Once the mother convinces Liam to let her daughter leave on a trip to Europe, he soon finds many dark avenues he hastens to pursue to track down the youngster that was stolen for prostitution among the rich and wealthy corruption. This story is sad, yet true. We can't expect our own humanity to do these sordid crimes, therefore, a film such as this helps expose those that have entered into this type of business.

We soon find our hero tracking down even the worst sort of criminals, playing upon every move. Overall, a very enjoyable and predictable film with many "Gotcha" type of excellent scenerios.

5/5 for this one. Watch it with impunity.

  RIVETING, awsome movie

Taken is a straight-up wicked action movie that features intense and brutal fight scenes & a fantastic performance from Liam Neeson. This film could have been a disaster with the whole one man army scenario however Neeson's performance keeps this film grounded in reality and he really can play a leading action hero perfectly. Morel's direction is really good and the action sequences are truly thrilling to watch and really reminded me of the Bourne franchise in that you actually can feel the punches. Overall, Taken is a great action film, Neeson is excellent as Bryan Miller and while the film is never very deep; it is very thrilling and highly entertaining.
On the disc now and Fox has really put some great effort into the quality of both the PQ and AQ. The transfer is excellent; detail & depth was very good and the image is quite sharp really giving you that 3D effect especially on the wide shots of Paris. There is a fine layer of grain present through-out the entire film but it never hinders the quality and adds the gritty natural of the movie. While the PQ is excellent, the audio is the real highlight here. It is powerful and dynamic; really working your back speakers / sub. (Check out scene 13 for a great 360 experience with bullets whizzing by and explosions rocking your house) Even with all the action, dialogue remains very clear and the movie had a perfect balance to it, I never had to adjust my set once for action being too loud or dialogue being too soft. The only disappointment is that for such an awesome film, the extras are fairly lacking. There are two commentaries which sadly Neeson doesn’t participate in (considering how much of this movie he made, I will kind of letdown because it would have been wicked to hear his thoughts on the film) and a couple of okay BTS featurettes.
Overall, Taken is a gripping action thriller that is really amped up thanks to Liam Neeson’s bad ass performance and very vicious action sequences. The PQ is superb and the audio is top-notch demo stuff so I definitely say add Taken to your collection, it is a must have of any self respecting action fan.

  Great action movie!

What I like best about this movie is the storyline about a father who will risk everything to save his daughter. I am a father myself so that really stuck out to me. Overall, a great action movie. One thing I noticed is that Liam's character clearly drives a Nissan Sentra but it is very obvious on interior shots that the car is different, more like a BMW 7 series. The movie, I believe, tries a little too hard to show the polar opposites of the mother and father. Granted, without the enormous wealth of the stepfather and the special ops training of the father, this movie would not work. Overall, though, this film has a good story to it, a good ending and is filled with adrenaline pumping action sequences. I recommend this film! (so you know it's good)

THEY TOOK HIS DAUGHTER, NOW HE WILL TAKE THEIR LIVES

Features Actors:Liam Nelson, Maggie Grace,Famke Janssen,Xander Berkeley,Katie Cassidy,Nicolas Giraud
Running Time:93 Min.
Rating:PG-13

Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) recently retired from a dangerous career as a CIA agent to settle down in California near the person he cares about most, his daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace). Ever since his ex-wife (Famke Janssen) got remarried to a filthy-rich businessman (Xander Berkeley), it seems like Bryan has become of less importance in his little girl's life.
For instance, at her 17th birthday party, his modest gift of a karaoke machine is overshadowed by the horse her step-dad could afford to surprise Kim with. The next day, she informs him for the first time of her impending plans to vacation in Paris with her best friend, Amanda (Katie Cassidy). Aware of the potential dangers which lay in wait for a couple of gullible tourists overseas, Bryan reluctantly signs the parental consent form
after Kim promises to call him everyday on her cell phone.
The naïve teenagers still find trouble as soon as they land at the airport when they unwittingly agree to share a cab with a cute guy named Peter (Nicolas Giraud). After checking into their hotel, Kim calls her father to let him know they've arrived safely. But while they're speaking on the phone, the room is broken into by a gang of Albanian mobsters obviously tipped-off by Peter.
Bryan listens helplessly, collecting clues until the line goes dead, and is calm and collected enough to discern that Kim and Amanda have been kidnapped. He immediately kicks it into high gear, leaving for Europe on the next flight. Once there, he's too impatient to give the police a chance to to crack the case.
Instead, the desperate dad turns vigilante, taking the law into his own hand. Relying on his experience as an international spy, Bryan embarks on a one-man, adrenaline-fueled rampage to track down the creeps before they sell his daughter to sex traders.

This heart-stopping revenge flick written by Luc Besson is easily Liam Neeson's most memorable performance since his Oscar-nominated outing in Schindler's List.Hope this helps you decide. Thanks for reading! :)

Taken will leave you wanting more

Taken is about a former spy Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) who's daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) and friend Amanda (Katie Cassadie) get kidnapped. They were then sold into the sex slave world. But They kidnapped the wrong girl, Bryan comes for them with a vengeance.

This movie is an excellent action film. Liam Neeson is incredible and his character is believable. He seems to stay calm during the entire ordeal. He shows no mercy or fear when it comes to finding his daughter. Bryan takes out everyone in his way and stunning fight and shooting scenes. Just great action!
There are no plot twists in this movie and it is one that stays with you.

It also shows the incredibly disgusting world of the sex slave/trade business. I cannot believe that this is actually going on. The scenes made me sick to my stomach and really opened my eyes.

In essence this is a must see action film. This movie flies by and has you begging for more. Taken is one of the best action films I have seen in a long time and I just can't say enough. Even if you are not into action movies you still need to watch Taken. I give it a strong 9/10

I like action movies where the good guy must overcome great odds to defeat evil. This movie begins by developing the characters, then quickly escalates to a suspense thriller.

Liam Neeson (did I spell his name correctly?) plays the role of a government agent who happens to have to rescue his daughter from the underworld of scum who sell women for prostiution and pleasure. I guarantee you can't leave your seat (unless you hit the pause button) as Neeson takes "care" of those who abducted his daugther. Excellent movie.

  Taken
Review created: 07/08/09
by:

'Taken' is a great action movie. Liam Neeson is cast in the role of an ex-special agent who has left his job to live nearer to his daughter. He and his wife are divorced and his daughter lives with her mother and step-father who are quite wealthy and not as protective of her as Liam Neeson is. His daughter travels to France with a friend and is abducted by white slave traders shortly after she arrives there. Just as she is being abducted she is speaking to Liam Neeson on the phone. He gives her instructions on what to do. The abductors pick up the phone and Liam Neeson tells them to release his daughter or they will be sorry. The rest of the movie is non-stop action as Liam Neeson flies to France in order to find his daughter.

One might think that this casting is out-of-character, and it is, but it is brilliant! Liam Neeson may well be the next great action movie actor. He is toned up and trimmed down. Whoever did his training for the moves in this film is to be commended. He kicks butt!

If you like action movies, don't miss this. You will be on the edge of your seat the whole time.
