Since his first appearance on his friend Snoop Doggy Dogg's debut album, g-funk king Warren G's easygoing lyrical flow has been a Long Beach trademark, with a smooth appeal that draws in hip-hop fans of all stripes. This followup to his multi-platinum debut, REGULATE...G FUNK ERA, hews to the same style, adding positive messages to the party beats. Warren G isn't a top-of-the-line producer or lyricist, but rather a confident, assured hip-hop songster who knows how to put everything together into perfect little pop packages.

Editorial Reviews
3.5 Mics (out of 5) - ...The architect of the sound he's dubbed G-Funk, Warren has...simply fine-tuned his already successful style, added a few creative wrinkles, and created an album that...surpasses the heights of 1994's debut...
The Source (03/01/1997)

6 (out of 10) - ...another good-natured Kmart gangsta exercise, great for doing the dishes, flavored with the superb G-funk stylings of Death Row crooner Nate Dogg and some of the best laid-back-in-the-pocket rapping this side of Snoop's DOGGYSTYLE...
Spin (04/01/1997)

...While TAKE A LOOK...clings to the self-referential mindset that is rap's Achilles heel, the wonderfully funky textures make those limitations seem almost irrelevant....Warren has a lilting, laid-back style that tickles the ear...
Musician (06/01/1997)

8 (out of 10) - ...Forget the boasting, posturing and bickering of his contemporaries, this is about relaxing....This is the sound of a man in control, a man who knows his funk can't be touched, a man who's secure in the knowledge that this second album is every bit as good as his first...
NME (02/08/1997)

...Three years after ushering in the g-funk era, Warren G. puts out a sophomore effort that confirms his talent for springy beats and jazzily conversational rapping... - Rating: B+
