T'ai Chi has always been something I've wanted to try. However, I've looked at T'ai Chi instructional videos several times and the instructors performed the moves so quickly, I was never able to follow.
Not so with this one! This is fantastic and easy to follow. First, you learn about the different hand movements, basically from the waist up. The T'ai Chi instructor goes over each move then shows you how to put them all together. Then, he does the same with foot movements, from the waist down. It's only then that he shows you how to put the hand and foot movements together, which he also does in slow motion and step-by-step.
I've used this DVD twice, once today and once yesterday, and today was already easier and less confusing. Give me a week and I might even be ready to do the routine without the DVD! (Probably not, but a girl can hope!)
For those looking for a workout, don't be misled by T'ai Chi's slow, easy movements. After 15 minutes, my legs were shaking and I'd broken into a sweat. What I love best is that, by the end of the workout, I feel refreshed, my muscles are stretched and fluid, and my mind is calm. As a business entrepreneur, caretaker for three people and a busy mom with the stress-level to match, these are definitely teachings that I can use throughout my life - for my health and my piece of mind.
The only drawback that I can see is that you need to have a little room to move. Ideally, it should be a big enough area to take - at the least - four WIDE steps to each side, and four WIDE steps to the front and back. Otherwise, you might end up feeling cramped and bump into things.
