My teenage son wanted a Sidekick for his birthday and let me know about 8 months in advance. He liked the QWERTY keypad and the way it flipped open. I got a great deal from a friend of a friend since I had so many months to Sidekick shop.

This is the stupidest phone I have ever known! Unless you are going to use email, etc. and pay the extra $20 a month for the special Sidekick internet connection, this phone is useless. It doesn't even have an alarm clock. And why would Sharp make such a high-end fancy phone without a camera?! And since I am the one paying the bill, there was going to be no internet. But I then misunderstood the Sidekick specialists through T Mobile that downloading stuff was free with the extra $20 internet plan. So I thought he could download a couple songs and then I'd cancel the internet after a few days and only get charged a few dollars. But NOOOOO, all this stuff is extra. On the other hand TMobile was great and refunded half of the charges for me for my misunderstanding.

Without internet connection you can't:
get on T-zones to download ringtones, etc.
save My Fav 5
save sent or received texts
update time and date information

It also doesn't have:
a camera
an alarm clock

You just can't do crap with this phone without the internet. And if you don't have the internet, then the thing keeps searching for the internet connection anyway. This may be a great phone for some, but not only are many of the features wasted on me, it just doesn't provide some of the most basic phone tools. Lara
