When 12-year-old Chloe is sent by her stepfather to spend the summer with his sister Bernadette in Florida, Chloe expects to have a boring time. Instead, she finds herself standing up with Bernadette for freedom of speech, freedom of action, and facing the costs of both when they get involved in a debate over commissary van operators wearing revealing bathing suits. Not only does Chloe develop real affection for Bernadette, she also learns a new sense of independence and how to stick to her beliefs.
