Album Notes Includes liner notes by Aaron Seymour. The late-'90s swing revival came as an unexpected phenomenon. Before anyone knew it, ballrooms everywhere where crowded with hipsters dancing to the horn-driven sounds of Louis Prima, Louis Jordan and other jump blues legends. The contemporary crop of swing bands had something to add to the style too, and they leaped onto the charts with a combination of old and new that came to be termed "neo-swing." SWING THIS BABY, represents the best of those '90s hep cats, collected in one convenient package for easy access. Neo-swing phenoms the Cherry Poppin' Daddies and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy are present (though the Squirrel Nut Zippers are noticeably absent), performing their respective chart smashes, but old guard swingers like Brian Setzer are here too. And the New Orleans-via-New York Flying Neutrinos, with their combination of blowsy sax and Betty Boop-at-Birdland vocals will put on a smile on even the most jaded face.
