The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love by Jill Conner Browne (1999, Paperback)

One of the funniest books ever written about women past that first blush of youth, it also has some passages that every woman should read and reread about being picky, taking care of yourlelf and enjoying being a woman.

It is hilariously risque, with moments of serious friendship and compassion. These are mothers who love their families and who are tying to teach their daughters independence withouty losing thier love of femininity and how to understand men--it really isn't that hard...

Highly recommened for women over the age of 25 on through their 100's.

this was one of the most enjoyable light reads I have ever had. Very, very funny! Great for men or women, young and old.

I first read this on an airplane trip, and I truly laughed out loud until I cried. I ended up reading the book outloud to my "seat-mates" who did the same. This book is about a group of women - all named Tammy - who live in Jackson Mississippi, and who all have normal lives like you and I, but the way they tell it makes it seem so much more interesting and down right hilarious. I have never laughed so much on my life! It makes me want to go to Jackson Mississippi - and how many books can you say that about??

A best-seller to be shared and enjoyed again and again. Sly wit and hilarious anecdotes about men, relationships, and living life to the fullest will leave you weeping with delight and buying a dozen copies for your girlfriends, sisters, etc. NOT a book for the prim and prissy! If your man reads this and laughs out loud, he's a keeper!

It was a very light read - maybe a good beach book, i.e., didn't take much too deep thinking. I bought it because a friend told me it was a very funny book.

I like Jill Conner Browne. Her southern humor is so entertaining. Even someone from the North would find this one funny. The book is more about what the "Sweet Potato Queens" experience is and not so much as detailed advise.

Jill Conner Browne is a funny, funny lady and will entertain you with her delightful anecdotes. It's a quick,sweet book.

The book itself was a great read. My problem was the smell of it. I understand the books are used but I had to remove the smell of really old soap (and a lot of it!) from the book by closing it up in a ziploc full of baking soda for a week before even attempting a read. I wish I had known beforehand as I am VERY sensitive to strong odors

This is the second Sweet Potato Queens' book I have read and this is by far one of the silliest womens reads. This book encourages you to discover the queen within you and eat as many calories as you can in a day and have all men bow down to every whim you may have. Now what more can you say about Female southern wisdom with a comical twist?

A friend suggested the book. I have finished it and enjoyed reading it. It was a true story. I liked the candied was she writes. It was funny and frank

I highly reccomend all of these books and the recipes included. Try not to read excerpts to your husband, as you will no doubt annoy him. On second thought, have at it. Its lots of fun! You will be hard pressed to be in a bad mood while reading these books. Only problem, Jill Conner Browne can't write new books fast enough. Go ahead and buy them all at once. If you don't, you will regret it while you wait for the other books to arrive. Enjoy.
