  Beyond Surviving
Review created: 04/13/09

Blasting through 12 live tracks on "Survive Kaleidoscope," Underoath brings the energy and vitality of their live show to CD and DVD providing a truly enjoyable musical experience -- one that could just as well be considered a "Spencer Chamberlain era" greatest hits package. Featuring "It's Dangerous Business..." "A Moment Suspended in Time," "Casting Such a Thin Shadow," and "A Boy Brushed Red..." the devastatingly beautiful vocal interplay of Chamberlain and Gillispie is not only highlighted, but exploited, and the listener is all the more blessed because of it. Here is ample evidence that Underoath are a great live band and deserve to be considered among the best in their genre. A truly enjoyable experience on every listen ... and a bonus DVD to boot! This is really a can't miss for those who love heavier music!

  Survive, Kaleidoscope DVD

I'll do a quick one cause it's late :)
I gave an excellent rating because i personally felt that UnderOath was awesome throughout the entire show. The show started as a video the band came out. Very intense. Everything was spot on and the band was just so tight. The mixing of the sound was also done very well. The visual and audio quality was also very good. If you've watched the whole show, you would have noticed that "Young and aspiring" was labeled as "Returning empty handed" which isn't much of a big deal. Overall, very worth buying and i definitely didn't regret buying this. 10/10

  Great Live Album
Review created: 09/08/08

This is a great album if you have seen Underøath live. I wasn't interested in this album until I saw them in SLC, UT. Then I had to have this album. I think it's great how it comes with a DVD of the show, and a CD just for listening later.
The CD isn't the best quality (duh it's live!) and you pretty much have to know all the words to the songs from their previous professionally mastered albums, to enjoy it. The guitars are really loud, and the vocals are kinda quiet. Spencer pretty much just uses his monotonic scream through the whole thing which is a little disappointing. Except on the DVD near the end of the show he really gets into it and starts varying his screams.
And that's one thing about the DVD that I was kinda surprised at - when I saw these guys in SLC the place was NUTS! But the crowd in phili (where it was filmed at) is doesn't look into it. I mean they do, but their NOTHING like the SLC crowd for sure. It's not until the end of the show where everybody is getting into it and the energy starts flowing. Spencer even asks the crowd if they are "still awake out there" - something that he never asked of SLC.

But over all it's really cool. During Salmarnir on the DVD there is some weird imagery that is sort of confusing, but I think it is supposed to be that way.

Once again don't buy this until you seem them live!
