  Excellent game!

The things I like most is it's a great strategy game and rated E-10. Most of this genre is rated T for graphic violence because they depict characters battling. A great example of that is The Battle For Middle Earth, which I enjoyed. So when I saw the rating I thought it might be something for little kids. Not so! I mean, it's ok for the kids of course, but it's an intense strategy game that will keep everyone on the edge of their seat.

So when I went out looking for a new Real Time Strategy (RTS) game I saw Supreme Commander and decided to download the demo (over 1gb!). I was hooked right away. Awesome graphics and music. Lots of action.

If you love the idea of assembling an army of mechs (robots), interceptor planes, bombers, ground robots, etc. and attacking an enemy base then this is a game you might like. If you ever played the Mechwarrior games, you might like this game. It's different from Mechwarrior in it scope and viewpoint, but there are definitely mechs in this game. And they're awesome!

Supreme Commander puts "Strategy" back into "RTS"
Review created: 09/16/09

I really enjoy playing this game. As I mentioned in the title, it really puts the "Strategy" back into "RTS". I really like how playing as each faction is almost like playing a different game altogether. There are a lot of RTS games out there where each race's units do basically the exact same thing, the only difference being that the in-game effects for the attacks and actions are different. Not with SupCom. You get the diversified "eye candy" from the different factions, but the strategic game play across factions is diversified as well. Example, you have a race whose power generators generate more power than the others, yet the mass extractors don't yeild as much mass... but the overall build time across most units takes a bit longer than the other races.

I'd have to say that my favorite class would be the Cybrans. Their tech 2 naval Destroyer's have the oh so awesome ability to sprout legs and walk across the land. Nothing like walking up the shore if an enemies island with a fleet of slow moving walking Destroyers living up to their name. There Megalith Experimental Megabot can also survive a nuke dropped right on top of it. I usually like to transport a few Support Armored Command Units (equipped with rapid fabricators and personal cloak's) right off the shore of the enemy and construct the Megaliths under water where their invisible to radar. Time it so that once you have 2-4 completed, your fleet of tech 2 Destroyers are arriving and walk them all across the base of the enemy. "All your base are belong to us, lol" You'll be sure to see the enemy's ACU boarding a transport and heading for the hills. If the tables are turned and your about to get wiped out, and if your ACU has the personal teleporter, then you can teleport your ACU right to the middle of the base of an adversary and once you die, atleast you'll take out a good chunk of their base with you, and if your lucky, their ACU as well.

Just a warning, this game makes time fly. It's one of those where you start a game after dinner say around 8pm, then what seems like 30mins later, you check the clock and it's 11:30pm. No game is worth your marrage or job, especially these days. You can only have so many excuses for being late to school/work...

To play with a friend online, we played Company Of Heroes, and Sins Of a Solar Empire, nothing matches the fun of seeing hundreds of robots firing lasers and taking each other out.

  GREATEST RTS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
Review created: 11/04/08

This is the Greatest RTS ever made! Chris Taylor really out did himself on this one. Until SupCom came out , I was still playing Total Annihilation Gold! And that came out a DECADE ago! SupCom is all the improvements I wanted to make to TA.
->The Upgradeable Commander, enhances the game experience
->Upgradeable Resource Generators, saves valuable time
->Upgradeable Labs, saves space and time
->Further Nanolathe Capabilities, fixes the out of range/build site blocked problem
->Faster Build Time, EPIC BATTLES SOONER!
->GARGANTUAN UNITS! CREATING MORE EPIC THAN EPIC BATTLES!
->Different Races, providing stylistic game play
-.BETTER STORY LINE, much needed etc.

  Supreme Commander Gold Edition (PC)

Awesome game from right out of the box! If you are an avid RTS gamer, this game is a must for you! However, pay close attention to the system requirements, due to the fact that it requires a higher-end gaming rig to run some scenes. I have a Phenom 9850BE x4 and a Radeon HD4870 running on Vista Ultimate, and the game manages to bring my rig to its knees on a few scenes. I do run the game on "high" video settings, though. LOL.

Pros: Lots of attention to details. Tons of different units to build; awesome tech-tree. Great UI, once you get used to it.

Cons: Learning curve is average, and gets easier once you go through the tutorials. Campaign missions can take FOREVER. "Steep" system requirements.

  Supreme Commander: Gold Edition
Review created: 09/11/08(updated 09/27/08)

Phenominal. That is one word that describes this game. The maps are so huge and when I say huge I mean HUGE. It could take 15-25 minutes for a unit to even go from one end to the other (depending on the unit). If you like air battles, then you will definently love the air battles in this game. Units are able to blind fire, which means units can fire at an enemy unit that shows up on the radar as long as that unit is in range.

This game is too hard to describe because it is too good. Download the demo as you will get a good view of the game.

Pros - Huge Map, Excellent Air Battles, Excellent battles in general, Graphics are top of the line, tons of buildings, units can Blind fire, and many more.

Cons - Too easy to advance in tech levels, can be very laggy even with recommended computers.

Excellent game for any RTS fan
Review created: 08/26/08

This game is as close to perfect as any RTS. It does away with the usual rock, paper, scissors game play that is so common in most RTS games (i.e. ALL C&Cs). The strategic zoom becomes a must have after using it for the first time, and will cause you to give up any RTS that lacks it. And to top it all off, the graphics are superb and backed up by a very strong physics system. What does this mean? Just as in real life, if a plane happens to fly into the path of a artillary shell, it will be hit. No more scripted gun firing, no more rolls of dice to determine what is hit and what is not. If this game has any faults, it is the heavy system requirements and the publisher, THQ. The game is only a patch or two away from having perfect balance, but THQ controlls this aspect of the game is has not released one since early summer 2008. Overall, any RTS or Chris Taylor fan should buy this!!!

A massive game for massive time.
Review created: 08/02/08
by:

I have anticipated this game for some time now. Upon finally attaining this expansive feat of gameboard action, I find it a little to big. Not that that is a bad thing. If you have a lot of time to commit to a level, then this is the ultimate in RTS. If you want to play a senerio in an hour, forget it. This game has sublevels. When you finish your objective, the board doubles in size. So you have about 4 sublevels per level. Don't know how many because I havn't had the time to the finish.
The zoom is the best. This game has real zoom in and out. One of the features I do not like is that you have to zoom in and out to move precisely. I couldn't find how to slow down the mouse scroll. You can't grab and move slowly as in Command and Conquer.
This game is definitely a buy for the collection. Chris Taylor games are top quality. And now I am patiently awaiting DEMIGOD!!!!!!! Have fun kids:)
