A NOTE TO BUYER/BIDDER: This series will not be released until 9-11. Several major on-line stores offer this just shy of 40 bucks and includes S & H. I am sure many of the Ebay stores will sell new or used for less (with postage). I found the Season one on Ebay and it was new and the least expensive on the web as well as a classic series (classics are my thing). If you are watching your pennies, this is for people like me who have to monitor their luxuries/hobbies carefully. Now for the review:
I never heard of this series until I bought season one and got hooked. Sure there were some bum episodes, and the father in search of the demon that killed his wife when his two songs were toddlers was in hot pursuit and didn't really show up until the last few episodes. He is an interesting figure, as he sealed his sons' fate and through this there was much sibling rivalry. It ended with a cliff hanger. Unfortunately with this season, the father isn't in it much (I won't give away the tag here). The grown sons are still in hot pursuit of this demon they almost had in "one" and along the way as with the first they run into a series of weird people and situations complete with some more well-known guest stars such as Linda Blair (The Exorcist) and Emmanuelle Vaugier. Sam and Dean encounter running (no less) female zombies, a female werewolf (one of the more touching episodes)--old myths and urban legends. And as with the first season, their are a couple of slow moving episodes, however, this is far superior to the initial season. Those who watched it know know more about the sons and most of their sibling rivalry is behind them and they have bonded and have come to rely on each other.
Another great transfer and of course lots of bonus features including deleted scenes, the always fun "gag reel" and commentaries. This set also includes Sam's screen test for the series and a look into season three which is in production in Vancouver. A nice teaser and of course, a great marketing ploy.
Fans won't be disappointed and will enjoy this far more now that they have been introduced to the main characters and should appreciate this X-files counterpart. It's all very well executed and acted with enough chills to even surprise the die hard horror enthusiast.
Enjoy. Once you're hooked, you are hooked. What can I say. I am not one for series, and was dubious when I began watching season one but by the end, oh, well--I have become another groupie of this nicely done television filler.
