The new superman is no Cristopher Reeves. That being said, his portrayal of Superman is a good one.
Routh brings a loveable geeky twist to Superman that Reeves brought about, but it is more so defined by Routh. One issue in the movie is Superman's persistance in fighting Lex even though it means certain death. One would assume (or hope) that Superman would be smart enough to come up with a plan that wouldn't mean his demise.
I agree that the storyline of fathering a child and disappearing for 5 years leaves MUCH to be desired. However, it was an unexpected surprise that will allow the Superman series/franchise to continue on. How will Superman's son play into the future movies?
An overall pleasant movie - A
