All the action takes place on one screen, from a zoomed out third-person perspective more reminiscent of old-school platformers than traditional fighting games. The premise is as simple as the controls. Beat up you opponents and knock them off the fighting platform to score a point. The more damage your opponents sustain, the farther you can throw them. Apart from the quick, but explosive mayhem that ensues when more than one player has at it, the game manages to bring back many fond gaming memories by bombarding players with familiar items, power-ups and many classic tunes. And that's exactly what this game is all about. Super Smash Bros. was released in April 1999 for the Nintendo 64. You could choose from 12 popular Nintendo characters, all of which use moves they are known for to fight other Nintendo characters. For example, Mario can shoot fireballs, and Kirby can copy abilities. Nintendo took a risk by releasing this game, and it payed off, making Super Smash Bros. one of the most popular N64 games. I would only recommend this game if you have other people to play against. While the 1 Player Mode is fun, the Multi-Player modes are what really makes this game shine. Being a serious game my whole life this is one important review that I forgot to write about two years ago. Super Smash Bros, from the multiplayer perspective, is arguably the greatest game ever created. I have ventured on to playing thousands of games during my time and still to this day in 2007 no multiplayer game beats the fun capacity of Super Smash Bros. Still to this day me and friends will rendevous to encounter a new challenge for Smash Bros. Some how, some way, this game never seems to get old. The 1-player mode you will be done with in 24 hours. However, if you have a group of friends ready for the ride of a life time you need this game. The GameCube version in my opinion is inferior and gives this game a bad name. If you have not played this game you should buy it immediately. I still to this day know many local gamers who play this game seriously. Without doubt the funnest multiplayer game I have ever played on any systen including PC! Super Smash Bros is an all time classic and the fun never seems to end. PS - I tend to dominate in this game with Fox! Review ID: 10000000003487165 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
