If not THE best one of the top five SNES games. From Metroid II you had limited powers and can only hold one beam at a time. In Super Metroid you can now combine beams and use a charge function to increase the power. The Grapple Beam which enables you to swing across a special block and destroy some enemies. This legendary item made way for its many uses in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It also introduced a Space Pirates appearence for the first time and closed the Zebes chapter. The control was easy to learn and prevented you from going into Speed Booster unwillingly. The Ridley, Kraid, Metroids, and Mother Brain are still present to keep the classic feel alive but Draygon and Phantoon were new threats to keep the series interesting. Also new areas were added to this game to actually make the items that were being collected extremely useful.
