Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)

Mario has been ever since the 80's been Nintendo's "go to guy" when they needed sales. The mascot, the staple of one giant among giants in the gaming industry.
I'd have to say that the reviews I'd read and heard from other sources tend to about spot on. Case in point, this is the 1st Mario game if not game in general to have a realistic gravity effect. This is why Mario Galaxy gets a 4/5 from me.

Storyline - 3/5
The story is pretty much what you have seen before in the Mario franchise.The story is the only bad thing about this game because we've seen the same thing many times.The story mimics that of what we're already been feed like Mario 64. Mario just heads to Peach's castle after a sent invitation to a night festival and Bowser invades by pulling the princess's castle and taken into other space. Actually now that I think about it, it seems like the exact same story as Paper Mario for the 64. A homage maybe back to the "Sorry, but your princess in is another castle"

Gameplay + Control - 4/5
This is a very close 5/5 believe me. The graphics are breathtaking, the game is simply glorious. The 360 degrees of freedom that your allowed to navigate with the elegancy of the free roaming camera angels. The different suits Mario changes in and out of work seamlessly with easy transaction.

Controlling Mario can be a little hard at initially, if you are not experienced with his games, but it won't take long to get a hang on the controls. Everything is sweet and straightforward, whatever screen your on if it be the main screen or the HUD, the controls are simple.The + and - buttons serve the same purpose, basically they are the start button. The Direction Pad lets you look around in directions (Along with a first person view), but there is always the C button to make the camera look in the direction Mario is facing.

Replay Value - 5/5
Their’s about 30 to 40 hours of game time, included in that are some 2-D scrolling aspects along with the option to collect all the 100+ stars just like in Mario 64, even though it only takes about 60 to finish the game. There is a two player mode, along with a “Trial Galaxies".

Music - 4/5
The in game music is soothing at times and hard on the ears. The music helps set the mood for the level, or even for a power-up you have just obtained. It can range from serene, to chaotic, and to dark. Not to mention the classic Mario Bros songs you will hear, which will no doubt give you the feeling of nostalgia.

The replay value is quite high until you get to the point of beating the game over and over again. If only Nintendo had a way to add extra content to their games threw downloads, the possibilities for this would be almost endless, but once again Nintendo delivers a great game with Mario in it (Well, till Smash Bros. Brawl is out)

Mario games never get old to me and this is one of my favorite ones! I personally own just about every Mario Game ever made and love playing them. I really recommend that you buy this one because it is a really good one!

This is another great Mario. Some people think this may be the greatest game ever. So on november 13 pick this game up. Best game on the Wii and one of the best games all of this winter right next to Assassin's Creed. So go pick it up Nov.13

Fun for both my 6 year old and his middle aged dad...Really like the puzzle aspect of the game. Have barely begun the game and already we're excited to get to new worlds.

Another great Mario saga but very hard for the adult and even harder for the average teenager.
This game will get even the most adult orientated thinking hard.
If you enjoy a challenge then I highly recommend this game.
The Mario saga is fun for any system.

The story is not that important in the game so i am not going to talk about it. But it is not bad but predictable to Mario lovers. The graphics are what i care about. You get a breathtaking 360 degrees of freedom that your allowed to navigate through the gorgeous landscape but you have some bit falls here and there.
Trying to move Mario is another thing you get disoriented in the beginning but you will get the hang of it soon. You have a question of what you can do, then there is a pop up bubble that tells you. Sweet right. Also I love the game's music.

Ah Nintendo and Mario. Many a hour of my youth was wasted playing the Mario titles on the NES, SNES, and 64! So I was really interested when the Wii version came out.

This is a definite YOU MUST BUY game ladies and gentleman. When you create a game with the iconic character of the company, it better be good. This one is!

The story line is similar to almost every other Mario title around. Mario must rescue Peach from Bowser. However, this time you are off to space!

The gravity in this game makes it. I find that when I was spinning my control's around trying to get around things I would be moving my head also. Total immersion into the game.

The Graphics are great 5/5, storyline is 4/5 (again, rescue the princess), Control's 5/5.

This is a great game to pick up for you Wii.

Mario Galaxy takes place starting off in the mushroom kingdom like most off the other mario games start. except this time bowser has some help from alien like space ships which rip apart the kingdom. You, mario, must travel though space to reach peach and the castle. now the whole game isn't just in space. they are several different worlds and a wide variety of levels. and with the lack of gravity, Mario can jump like he's never jumps before. also you really don't have to worry about jumping off a cliff, since you'll land on the other side rather then fallen down. this concept really puts a twist on this title.

not only is this game innovative, it also makes use of the Wii Remote. with out over using it, you use the pointer to collect stars, like you would coins. and if you shake it, you can make mario spin and attack. if you have a freind who wants to play you can add a second remote and they can help you collect stars.

you can also send a copy of the stats sheet to your buddies with the Wiiconnect24.

I suggest you get this game, and if you have someone who owns a Wii, who doesn't have this yet, then it would be thge perfect gift this Christmas.

This game is very well done. The levels are fun, interesting, and just challenging enough to keep you hooked but not frustrated. Can't go wrong with this title. My boys love it (ages 5-11) and I love it (30's)

It takes some getting used to, but it will keep you or the kids entertained for hours. Great game, worth the price of admission.

Ok let me start off by saying that I'm more of the 'walkthrough' person as opposed to the gamer. However, we had seen the reviews for this game and I wanted it. I really really like this game. The graphics are crisp and clear and it has great camera views that you don't even have to adjust. The controls are really easy to grasp even without reading the manual. There are really good on screen directions for the controls too. The game responds easily and accurately. I woul really recommend this game. It's just a lot of fun to play :)

I love this game! It takes Mario to a whole new level. Very creative, constantly flowing, this game keeps me interested.

This game is definitely the best game on the Wii. The gameplay is simply amazing. There are so many things you can do. The game's concept is amazing being set in space. You travel between galaxies to recover the power stars. Each galaxy is a different level. Each of these small galaxies are made up of smaller planets and such. Each having its own gravitational pull.

The artistic style on this game is impeccable. I mean truely remarkable. I have not seen style this good on any game thus far. Nintendo actually managed to pull of some really good graphics on this title. Sometimes even comparable to the PS3 and 360. Maybe textures and details are not as high res.. but the lighting effects and brilliant colors make up for that.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who owns a Wii!

Excellant game for children and adults!
It is not too easy yet it is easy to control,unlike "family pary" for wii that I bought at kmart. That game is extremely difficult to control.I am very pleased with my purchase.

This took 3D Mario to a whole new level of dimensional playing! Not only are you able to walk in all directions not just side to side... you are now able to walk on a spherical plane. Each place that you visit in this breath taking game has its own gravitational pull, allowing you to now walk on the top, bottom, sides, and even inside of the ground. This game will take you to new heights... to the stars even!!!! I guarantee that!

From the instance I started playing Mario Galaxy, I knew it was a classic! It served as an excellent introduction to the WII and the capabilities of the WII remote. Chalenging and fun for the family too! Mario spends a good part of the game upside down and dealing with gravity.

It will never replace the 2d 8bit games for an old school gamer like me, but it is definately a well thought-out progression of the Mario we all know. It's basically Mario World on steroids. The only down for me is I don't personaly enjoy having to beat a level multiple times which is required to get the 100%.

Graphics are excellent in my opinion. Planets are interesting and very colorful, true eye candy. The bosses put up a great fight and lots of the other enemies just get in the way. I recommend this game, but I would rather play Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario Bros. 3.

The graphics are excellent. My 8 year old can play it. It is entertaining and fun. You never know what is at the next level but the obstacles get a little harder each time. Try it, you will like it.

Fun game in the Mario Nintendo tradition. Graphics are excellent, battles are well designed and the camera angles are terrific. 2 player mode is an interesting twist too.
