Super Mario Bros. (Classic NES Series) (Game Boy Advance, 2004)

The 2D platformer, designed by Nintendo's legendary figurehead Shigeru Miyamoto, still remains in our minds the most intuitive and addictive entry in the genre. The title stars "Jump Man" himself, Mario, along with his brother Luigi, and takes players through more than 30 colorful levels of varied theme and design, all of them packed with cute, stylized enemies like the goombas and a wide array of platforms and obstacles. Super Mario Bros. is the first major showpiece for Nintendo's heightened quality of gaming: full of depth, layered with tight control and remarkably clever level creation that spills with secrets and extras!

Special Features
SUPER MARIO BROTHERS’ graphics and sound have been updated considerably from the original game on the NES. The images haven’t changed so the classic look and feel of the characters haven’t changed except to become clearer and more colorful. The visuals have been minimized due to the restrictions of the small screen on the Game Boy Advance, but the definition of the graphics has not suffered. Players might find that screens can get crowed and it can become difficult to locate a character during a game play, but those kinds of limitations are overcome by practice and experience. The game experience is increased by a multitude of power-ups like Lakitu’s Cloud and the Warp Whistle. The characters can choose different suits to wear like a Frog Suit. The game has eight intriguing worlds in the Mushroom Kingdom before the climax takes place at a castle surrounded by tanks and airships. While much of the game stays with the traditional characteristics the original game had, Nintendo gave the Game Boy Advance version an overhaul in graphics, sound, and added a few new features in the process.
