Sundays at Moosewood Restaurant by Moosewood Collective (1990, Paperback, Illustrated)

This was such a delightful find,(not to mention I was lucky enough to get it for a steal)! I bought this because my mother is a member of the Moose lodge, and I buy many unusual items just because they have a moose connection, I am so glad that this was the Moosewood Restaurant otherwise I would not have had the pleasure of getting to own this wonderful cookbook, Thank you for that!
There are fabulous, famous and unique recipes that make anyone who loves to play in the kitchen want to get out the cookware and the good china (or the picnic ware) it's all good here because the food is to die for! There are recipes in here that I have never heard of, but I want to try them! Lol! The recipes mostly look pretty easy to follow and this book would make a great addition to any cooks library! It's a pretty good size for a soft cover cookbook, and it's very attractive! The cover is worthy of framing! I would buy this as a gift, and I would definitely recommend this to one and all! Being vegetarian can get a little boring and it's easy to slip into the same meals. I had gotten this book from the library, needing recipes for a special meal, and tested several recipes before buying. The ones I tried made me want to buy the book. "Sundays at Moosewood Restaurant" wakes up you pallet with recipes from around the world, including some uncommon countries like Finland, Armenia, and African south Sahara. Not strictly vegan, Ms Katzen uses fish, eggs and milk in some of the recipes amassed in this book, with relatively easy to find ingredients, even for the small city I live in.

The book is excellent. the recepies are delicious and respect the original flavors of each country described inside of the book. Recomend 100%.

I already own three Mollie Katzen cookbooks and love them. When I started seriously e-baying several weeks ago and saw the Moosewood Collective cook books, I knew they would also be very good. I love Sundays at Moosewood, not only for the recipes, but also for all of the stories and guides to ingredients, techniques and equipment, etc. I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes a couple of months ago and my doctor and I decided that it would be good for me to try and control this with diet and exercise instead of medication. Therefore, since I know the Moosewood reputation with vegetarian dishes, this was a "no-brainer" for me as I really need to "step-up" my veggie intake and start eating a much healthier diet. I know that I will enjoy all the recipes and commentaries throughout the book. A+++

I took this book out from my local library and I liked so many recipes that I had to get my own copy. While there are a lot of vegetarian recipes in this cookbook they can be modified easily enough. I like most of all that they truly span the globe with recipes. Even better is that they don't make the recipes unattainable for the average cook to get the ingredients or prepare. It is so nice for someone to simplify and explain ethnic cooking. This I think may rank up there with the red and white better homes and gardens classic cookbook- a cookbook I'll turn to for years to come.

This cookbook has seen a lot of use in our kitchen. From the Finnish mushroom pie to the Chai tea from India it frequently comes off our shelf of over 100 cookcooks. We have used it so much in the past 15 years that it is time to replace it.
