Mediocre

I first heard of this book when I saw the author on The History Channel. I read the introduction (first few pages) on Amazon, and it seemed interesting, so I bought the book. Little did I know that it goes downhill quickly after the introduction, going into agonizing detail about the precursors of chess going back to ancient times. It got so boring that I couldn't go on after the second chapter. In my opinion, a much better book on the topic would be Smartbomb, by Heather Chaplin and Aaron Ruby.
