Summer of Sam (DVD, 1999)

Based on true events during the sweltering summer of 1977, this movie
sets the plot of the notorious killer Son of Sam in New York City as
he sets the city on edge. A chance encounter with the homicidal maniac
sends the life of a philandering Bronx hairdresser named Vinny (John
Leguizamo) spinning out of control. As the authorities hunt the killer,
Vinnys life unravels amid a haze of suspicion, drugs and promiscuity. The
movie co-stars Mira Sorvino and Adrien Brody in a tense crime drama. The
movie was directed by Spike Lee and has strong graphic violence in scenes
as well as graphic sexual scenes that makes it most applicable to adult
viewers only. However, if you like drama and crime suspense movies, chances
are you will enjoy this one if not easily offended by those scenes.

This movie is so great, terrific actors, great story line. I think it portrays the disco era Great! Even though this movie is supposed to be a drama, I cant help but laugh so hard at alot of the dialogue in the movie. Great Great Movie!!!

Excellent portrayal of society as it was gripped by fear of serial killer. John Leguizamo's character is despicable but he does an amazing job enacting it. This is a great fiction about a factual period in US history.

This movie has a great story behind it, not only is it suspensful but its also true. It has great soundtracks that go great with every scene especially the teenage wasteland track. I decided to buy this film because its story ive heard of it but never really got the whole story. I give this movie a 10 out of 10.

Very good factual movie. However, If you dislike nudity & sexually explicit scenes which are all through this movie, you better not watch it. Very good 70's songs & disco music throughout. Again, this movie is very very sexually explicit & vulgar , so beware . I love the movie. It is really cool. It does have a story line. The actors are great. I decided to buy it because it is one of my favorite movies.
