Sudie and Simpson based on Sarah Flanigan Carters Novel
This is a wonderful movie based on Sarah Flanigan Carter's novel Sudie.
The setting is in a small racially charged town in GEORGIA. 10 year old Sudie Harrigan has led a sheltered life, having never before set eyes on a Black man, she is inevitably curious when she one day crosses paths with Simpson, who is played by Louis Gossett, Jr.
Simpson is a strong African American whose apparent gentleness and compassion is contrary to what Sudie has been taught. A beautiful friendship blossoms between the unlikely pair, as the struggle to keep their forbidden bond a secret during a time of racial hatred and segregation in the South.
Sudie, who is played by Sara Gilbert of the Roseanne TV series, is inspiring showing us the innocence of youth, as one girl who strives to break all barriers in the pursuit of everlasting friendship.
I highly recommend this movie for a Family viewing.
I hope you enjoy it, it is very rare.
