Sudden Strike: Forever (PC Games, 2001)

I bought the original Sudden Strike from a guy at a sidewalk sale, who didn't understand the idea of TACTICS, and had his head handed to him, thus, his sale of the game. Line of sight was a problem for him as well! The trees make for an agonizing 3 hours of scouting by sniper, and then you watch as they mortar him into next week! I'd play the russians, take my puny little T-26 tank, and, blow up the trees at their base, removing them from line of sight! Of course, the tree huggers would have a fit watching me do this, but, It's only a game! All you have to do after that is, resupply and keep being a lumberjack until you spot a column, or a bunch of troops waiting to jump off. This assumes you don't use cheat codes, which defeat the real purpose of the game, which is reliving WW2 in your computer lair! This add-on, is truly amazing, not for the additional chapters, but, for those of us who still play Red Alert 1, building your own map, sans all those lousy trees! Put a big hill in the middle of the map, and that's as good as having a forest, and they can still make it over with smaller vehicles! Build a ghost town, and have each side take over it and have a WW2 gang fight! Equip the map with a bunch of machine gunners and watch 1928 Chicago Gangland wars revisited! Equip one side with snipers, and the other side with officers and artillery, and see how the US cavalry fought the Apaches in New Mexico! Anything is possible with this map maker! Make a continuing scenario where your mind gets to concentrate on Strategy, Where you can't waste your resources! Make it more challenging, instead of shooting down a bunch of people in a FPS Gang War, Put 1 sniper and a supply truck, and have him make his way through a Battalion of riflemen and 3 or 4 broken bridges! It's up to you to decide, and if you're lucky enough to get a copy of this, you'll never run out of places to create MAYHEM, if that's your cup of tea! This editor is NOT for Amatuers, but, intermediate users will revel in the ways it can be set up to mimic other games! All in all, very satisfying, and truly worth paying the shipping to get it! A must have for those still playing Sudden Strike 1, and if you don't have a copy, GO GET ONE! This game won't work independent of the original, so, GET READY TO RUMBLE, you war gamers!
