Movie Description The irrepressible Jonathan Poneman and Bruce Pavitt formed the Sub Pop label after stumbling across a goldmine of musical talent in the Pacific Northwest. Kick-starting the grunge phenomenon with a variety of crucial releases (including early classics from Nirvana, Mudhoney, Tad, and others), the label made its mark through immaculate packaging, incredible music, and in Poneman and Pavitt a pair of media savvy head honcho's who knew a thing or two about wooing music journalists over to their side. This video compilation documents the early days of the label's output, including an exclusive version of "In Bloom" by Nirvana, and tracks by Mudhoney, Tad, former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan, irreverent Brit garage band Thee Headcoats, the controversial Dwarves, and oddball indie-poppers Beat Happening. Come taste the grunge!
