This is a great live concert video, although the sound quality is not the greatest. Stryper were the only Christian heavy metal band I followed in the 80s. Their message was loud and clear, their sound was unique, and they had more talent in their little fingers than most heavy metal bands had all over! The Stryper guys took a lot of heat for "breaking from the pack," but I'm awfully glad they did. I was a born again Christian before I came to know Stryper. I had all but given up on heavy metal music because of the negative messages. Strypers' message was postive, uplifting, but never sticky sweet. That's just what I needed at the time. I would recommend this VHS to any Heavy Metal fan, but especially to those who are Christians looking for an alternative to raunchy lyrics and insulting gestures from stage performers.

Stryper - Live in JapanGotta remember this is classic glam/melodic metal vintage, right down to the hair, makeup and - what the! is that a sock in your pants - lycra and leather look.
I first viewed this vid back in the late eighties or early nineties and thought yeh it's a bit of over kill, but considering all the hype and poofy hair that was going on in the harder rock scene in those days you must cut teh guys some slack. Hey these fellas where some of the leaders in getting metal styled music (christian or not) out of the underworld and into the pubic arena.
So whether you appreciated their message (like me) or just their style of great guitars, strong drums and base and the way they cut the scene, you'll definately find this oldie a goodie - or should that be Goddie?
