  Stronghold Legends is OK

I bought this game for my son who loved the Stronghold Crusader game. He really likes legends mythical monsters and fantasy aspects. But it does have some draw backs as well. Tha game tends to be dark and the map editor is much more complicated. He likes the ability to personalize your icon and colors and so on, but dislikes that you are limited to only 6 personas. So I'd say it is worth the money, it's a good game if you are a fan of the Stronghold line. But I wouldn't say it's great or one of the top games I've played at all.

  Ok, but dumb AI
Review created: 03/04/07

I liked this game, the graphics are old but the gameplay was fun. At least that is what I thought until I had to play some of the offensive battles. The AI is stupid, only a few guys will fight it out while the rest cool their heels.

Building a castle and filling it with archers and knights is fun but the game tried to go into RTS, they never should have done that.

Okay, but not like Stronghold 2

If you are into magic and sorcery, i guess you wouild like it. Doesn't even come close to the level of play in Stronghold 2. With all the new characters with their magic abilities, castle defense is almost useless without a huge army to defend it.

Bought for my sons ages 14 and 15 they love it and play it all the time. The price was good the game in good condition. The boys like that they can build maps and have others play it on line. And they can play other people online. This is something new that they haven't done with the other Stronghold games.

  Eh, it's OK
Review created: 11/01/09

There's a challenge to it, but once you figure out how to get artillery first, it's all over.
It's fun to play with a fire-breathing dragon (he doesn't last long enough, & it's lousy when he shows up as your enemy; you'd better have lots of archers) and heroes who have neat powers, though.
It all depends on what you're into.

My #1 favorite RTS game of all time!
Review created: 08/24/09

Who wouldn't like to take control of a castle (which you build from the ground up) and command troops like King Arthur and Sir Lancelot? I know I sound like a complete dork, but this is the most fun you can have if you enjoy a good strategy game. Everything moves in real time; but have no worries, you can speed up or slow down the game on the fly. You can command dozens of different troops split up into three different groups: King Arthur 'good', Siegfried 'neutral' and Vlad 'evil'. Depending on what leader you choose you have access to different troops and new legendary units like frost giants or the aforementioned knights of the round. If you've played the last installment (stronghold 2) the graphics got a minor upgrade and the single player campaign is longer, not to mention a few additional things have been changed (all for the better in my opinion).

To conclude, this is a real treat for a strategy fan. This may not be your cup of tea if you like action. If you're into RTSs (ie. Starcraft, Warcraft) I'd highly recommend it.

Stronghold Legends a Chore to Play
Review created: 07/02/09
by:

Stronghold 2 is much more pleasurable to play. Stronghold Legends is more like Stronghold 2 with the fun stripped out of it. Impossible missions and annoying enemy units make for painful gameplay. Is it really so unsavory for the developers to give the player any nice areas to build their castles?

  Great Game.

I used to own this game, I have no idea where it went or how i misplaced it, I went on ebay and found it and didn't hesitate. I love the game, it's basically a more strategic, and a little better version of Age Of Empires, while there are a few parts that are a little out of the world, like Dragons, it brings a great meaning to the Stronghold philosophy. How can you hold up against your own walls when the enemy is trenching forth? This is a true strategic test, becuase instead of being able to scamper villagers around the map so you have a chance to live after death of your community, you must stay in a refined zone, and once your first chance is lost, there is no second chance. This is a game for those who like Age of Empires but want more fierce battles, Loved it. Always will, and Im hoping there is a Stronghold series coming for, the future.

Stronghold Legends (not as good as the original)
Review created: 02/09/09

If you liked the original castle building sim you'll like this game. I feel it's lacking in gameplay compared to the original but, there is just something awesome about hurling werewolves over the enemies walls to wreak havok. If you're new to the stronghold series I'd reccomend buying the the first three titles (Stronghold, Stronghold Crusader, and Stronghold 2) before buying this one. All in all it is a very fun game with plenty of mythological creatures, good story lines, varies from easy to damn near impossible, but yet is still lacking alot of castle building features the other games have, and sometimes it feels a bit repetitive. Overall good game.

A twist to the traditional Stronghold
Review created: 07/18/08

I liked the new weapons ect. But game lacks the war play of other Stronghold games. Buildings are huge and take up valuable board space. All around not too bad of a game.
