Stronghold 2 (PC Games, 2005)

I bought this game a few days ago and can hardly drag myself away! I have always been a fan of RTS(real time stratagy) games such as the Age of Empires series and I must say that Stronghold 2 can run with the best of them. It was a nice change of pace from the other games in it's genre. Most mideville warfare RTS games concentrate on building huch armies of foot soldiers and marching them against other huge armies of foot soldiers and hoping that your army was bigger than the other guys army while sitting back and enjoying the fireworks. Stronghold 2, however, richly immerses you in the life of a feudal age lord. You must command you pesants to collect food to support your growing population, gather resources to expand your glorious castle, clean up the wastes that come as a side effect of eating and the vermin that are attracted by it. Hold feasts, dances, jousts and shows to increase your honor. Then, once you have a thriving economy and an invincible keep, you march grand armies of knights and pikemen against an opposing castle that is just as invincible as your own. Using advanced seige equiptment like balista and trebuchet, and supporting your laddermen with scores of archers, you overcome the flaming rolling logs ang ths falling rocks (not to mentain a rain of arrows from the tops of the towers). The 3D views are great! You really can see what ever you want, from any angle, and in increadible detail! I would certaintly say, if you haven't played it, you are missing out on a great game!

I found this game rather entertaining- - an interesting look at how managing large systems in the Middle Ages could be (you can never have enough gong pits :-)

Some of the controls and graphics are dated, but I was running Stronghold on an older machine and it was just fine for the technology I had at hand.

I bought the game cause I loved the first Stronghold, and Crusader. This game in all honesty was better, in my opinion. I felt there were a little more options, and it was just fun. However, the bugs hold this game back. I have run games requiring more resources (Rome: Total War for instance) on my computer, and this game still lagged. Their update patch was over 100 MB's, and that helps. Either way, if you like medieval games, and loved Stronghold, get this game. Otherwise, the computer problems can be annoying.

I really enjoyed this game. It combines building up your castle and armies with defending and fighting other forces too. The campaign modes can be very challenging, which is good if you don't like to simply role through scenarios easily. If you liked Stronghold you'll love Stronghold 2 because it is alot like the original, but brings more to the table. Tough fighting, improved building and weapon-making, and hours of good entertainment. I say check it out, you might just enjoy it more than the first one!

I played through this game and loved it, and thinking the next stronghold would be as good, purchased the next in the series. After a few days I sold the Stronghold Legends and bought Stronghold 2 again! Stronghold 2 is by far superior to Legends in so many ways, one being their are not any characters with magical abillities! I hated all the diffrent ways a castles walls could be breached in Stronghold Legends. Buy Stronghold 2!

With the limited number of Castle building Sims avialable, This game stands head and shoulders above the rest, and it competes primarily with it's predicessors.

The overall graphics were fair, but the castle building portion was excellent, i found the wall construction pliable and forgiving, with building integration to walls a definite plus. I can forgive some laziness when it comes to the assault armies based on the level of detail given to the spawned characters from the buildings.

The campaign is much tougher than the previous versions, primarily due to new content, such as siege engines. If you are in the market for a castle building Sim, I know of no other that will fill the void like this game.

The only real downside to it was a lack of freebuild scenerios with the ability to fight your design built in. I would really like to see a free build with a fight button that would spawn armies to assail your designs to test their effectivness. The only current situation that allows that is to write your own campaign, form the ground up, with schedualed invasions from set points, which kind of unfairly taints your designs because you know the threats.

Edit>> as of the 1.3 update they have included the ability to spawn armies to assail your freebuild.. kudos! some one was listening!

this was, in summary, the single best pc game I have ever played, it is so much better than the original stroghold, and crusader, it combined the best elements of both games, put it in 3d, added so much more, such as the castle tech's which make it more realistic because these existed and were and important part of mideaval siege warfare, it also added so many more aspects which make it so much more realistic, not to mention it's fun!

I bought this one because I loved the first game, as well as Crusader. This one hasn't let me down, I've had many enjoyable hours of gameplay so far. The humor is still there from the original, and the detail is pretty nice.

It ran well on my PC, no lag or crashes. The only time I had the game crash was when I tried tabbing out during a large battle. Guess my PC had had enough of me at that point.

Things I wish were different; I wish my steward would stop telling me how to use a carter's post. I wish I could unpack and pack trebuchets and move them after using them. I wish that my army were a little smarter about walking around obstacles on their own (walk *around* the pitch not through it, if it's faster).

It's a good little game, and a lot of fun if you enjoy sims at all. I highly recommend it.

It is such a massive difference between Stronghold 2 and their first release. This is an incredibly fun game. Has a little of everything, building/managing fiefdoms and building/controlling battles....

Not sure about this game considering it DID NOT WORK when I got it home. Seller would not refund money!

I love the graphics and gameplay, but make sure that you have a fast computer because the game can take a long time to load otherwise. Other than that its great. It has twice as many units and buildings than the other games.

Better graphics and sound make this an even better game than the original Stronghold. Very helpful tutorials enhance the learning experience. I bought this game because I am a fan of Stronghold and other RTS games. You will not be dissappointed if you buy this game.

This game is great for those fans of castle/real time strategy sims. Other than being very tough in some levels, the game is a blast and well worth the price IF your computer can handle it.

Definetly a game i would suggest to anyone. I wish more of my friends played it online. The story lin is great. Very happy to have bought the game.

I bought stronghold 2 in hopes that it made up for what was missing in stronghold. But t seemed as though I was wrong. Although there were a few new features, the graphics were still lacking and and angles seemed odd and and misconstrued. Also there were still not many building to choose from. This was truly an ok game, but you can buy Stronghold for a cheaper price, and get just as much out of it.

This is the one game i cant seem to stop playing! It still has a small pool of fans that you can log on and play with and a fun single player story line. Its like Warcraft 2 meets Empire Earth. Very Heavy castle based game with a lord and some fun Rping.

After I bought my first copy of Stronghold 2 at Wallie World I instantly feel head over feet in love with this game. Its a castle builder strategy game that includes single player and online multi-player that keeps the fun going.
If you like medieval games and strategy games youll love this 3d castle game. It takes some skill to master the game but once you do, you can take your skills online and play real human oponents real time across the world. So sharpen up on you German and French =)
