The Stripper

I've been waiting for an opportunity to buy this movie which has now become a classic. The reasons I had for purchasing it may or may not be meaningful for someone else. As a woman, above the age of <ahem> majority, my memories of this flick were sort of special. Certain movies I watched as a very young teenager seemed particularly romantic to me. "The Stripper" is one of those movies. Believe me, you will not see this movie aired anywhere. It is out of print, and never plays on any local or cable stations. Seeing it again after all these years, I wasn't disappointed. It's romantic, but bittersweet. Joanne Woodward's portrayal of Lila is excellent. Richard Beymer, (who played Tony in West Side Story) is very convincing as the young man, taken by the "older" woman's charms. I don't know how many men would be entertained, as this movie definitely falls into the "chick flick" category. However, it isn't silly or just a ball of fluff. It's a well made adaptation of a William Inge play. I really recommend it. Hope this helps.

P.S. I noticed above the date listed for this movie is 1986. That is incorrect. It must be from the 60's, it's not even in color.
