  Yes...Get this CD!

OK, basically...if you like Rage Against The Machine, you will also like this CD.
Street Sweeper is a bit more 'Rappy' than Rage, but Rage was basically rappy as well. Just in a different style, more 'yelly'.
Tom's guitar work is just as great as everything he's done in Rage, or Audioslave.
I had the pleasure of seeing Street Sweeper live as part of the NINJA'09 tour. Now THAT was a great show, and the CD IS able to capture all the excitement and energy. Only thing I'm unhappy with is that they do a cover of M.I.A.'s 'Paper Planes' live that is not on the CD. You should check it out at youtube though. It's definitely worth it.
So, yeah...get this disc...you'll be glad you did.
Thanks for reading!

Not as heavy as Rage Against the Machine

Really liked this cd. Boots Riley is a good, street-wise, revolutionary rapper. (Not Revolutionary but Gangsta, that's for Dead Prez.) I was very familiar with a lot of Boot's stuff. (Funny, this says the CD is by Epitaph records, but mine is on Warner Bros. Epitaph did put out Boots Riley's "The Coup" rap albums though). Tom Morello is a good guitar player, in love with the wha wha peddle, and with special effects on the guitar. I think he does a great job with this cd.
I really like the cd, it's got a lot of the things that made Rage Against the Machine so good, but not as loud and angry. Boots has more street lyrics, and more humor, than Zach does. I think Tom is amazing on the cd. Not as wild as Rage albums, but this isn't RATM, this is Street Sweeper.
All-in-all, if I had to do it all over again, I'd definately buy this album again. I can't wait to hear more songs.

someone really compared this to Linkin Park? <vomit>

  Styles Do Not Mesh Well

With the pairing of rapper Boots Riley and Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave's Tom Morello on guitar, I was expecting a better effort from this so-called "super group." Instead, their two styles clash to create a record that is not in the least bit entertaining.

One suspects that Morello was added to the line-up simply to add some star power to this release. His guitar work adds nothing spectacular to the album; practically anyone could have stepped in to do the job. Similarly, Riley is an accomplished rapper with a good ear for rhyme, but the guitar background does nothing to bolster his sound.

I feel that Kevin Rudolf and "Hybrid Theory"-era Linkin Park were able to blend the two genres better than Street Sweeper Social Club does on their self-titled debut.
