Strangers with Candy - The Complete Series (DVD, 2006, 6-Disc Set)

This show is hysterical! Jerri, the teenage runaway prostitute, former Junkie is coping with High School life at Flatpoint after a 32 year stint on the streets.

Strangers with Candy is (in my opionion) one of the best comedies ever produced!! I absolutely loved Steven Colbert back when he did this show! My favorite line (from the STD episode) is Mr. Jellyneck, "It isn't a cold sore! I bumped my lip on a biscuit!!" Amy Sedaris rocks in this!!! Highly Recommend!!

Loved the show on Comedy Central so of course I love having the DVD collection - I use to tape the show back in the day! - now I get to enjoy them again! great price and collection

I bought the complete series of Strangers with Candy because it is one of my favorite Comedy Central series. I think it is hilarious and silly. I put it on to laugh and have introduced it to many of my friends here in Norway. We all watch the show at parties. I couldn't find the series in any store here in Norway. So I looked for it on Ebay and of course it popped up here. So I got it in the mail in like a week or so. Great!

It has been over a month and I have not received my order therefore I cannot say what I disliked about it.

a couple of discs on this series were skipping and/or pausing in the middle of scenes. it was extremely inconvenient and sometimes the discs didnt even load and werent recognized by the dvd player at all.

At first I was skeptical about buying DVDs online thinking that it would be malfunctioning or bootlegged, but the seller has proved me wrong. The Complete Series of Strangers with Candy was in perfect condition neatly packaged when it arrived only a few days after I had sent out payment. Every disc of the six worked marvelously and now I get to enjoy every hilarious moment of this hit show!

I thought that this series was excellent. I really love this series. I have watched it all the way through.

This series is so funny. All of the cast is excellent and you can just imagine the writers in stiches when they come up with some of the lines and plots. I can watch this over and over. It is one of those shows you love to turn your friends on to.

This has got to be one of the best tongue in cheek sitcoms to come out...ever! Honestly, the show will leave you in stitches with their racial and sexual innuendos, well not so much innuendo as straight forward politically incorrect jokes! Amy Sedaris is an absolute scene stealer in her lead role as Jeri Blank, a 46 year old teenage runaway who bids to start her life over by returning to freshman year of high school. Stephen Colbert plays the mean, brutally honest history teacher and is absolutely hilarious. Paul Dinello, who wrote and directed this show, plays the flambouyant, self-indulged art teacher and is also completely histerical.
The show perfectly pokes fun at shows like Degrassi and Saved By The Bell, poking fun at anorexia and racism in some outrageous and hilarious ways. For example, is one episode Stephen Colbert makes it clear that you need to be very good looking to make the debate team, leading to Jeri's (Amy Sedaris') case of anorexia.
This is one of the best shows out there and it's a shame it only lasted 3 seasons (97-00). In 2005 they released a movie called Strangers With Candy. It is a prequel to Jeri Blank going back to high school, so you get to see her spending some jail time and whoring around as a teenage runaway. If you're a fan of shows like South Park and Family Guy, this is the show for you!

The complete compilation of this (sadly) short-lived series offers some of the most clever writing to grace TV ever. The show's satirical style and fearlessness make the episodes funny each time you watch, and the bonus features are quite tickling -- especially the very real PSA on which the character of Jerri Blank is based. A must-own for fans of the series, of Amy Sedaris, and of Stephen Colbert. Pop it in when, as very often happens, there is nothing good on TV.

A great television series that definitely makes you smile after a long day. The combination of slapstick humor and un-inhibited dialouge makes the show that much more enjoyable. The story of Jerri Blank, a 46 year old high school runaway that is picking up her life right where she left it. Becoming more than just an abuser, a boser adn a loser.

My friends intoduced me to this series a few years ago, well after it was off the air. It is now one my favorite shows and this collection is a must have for anyone who enjoyes crazy politically incorrect off the wall humour. You will laugh your ass off.
