When a Stranger Calls (DVD, 2006, Widescreen/Fullscreen)

PLOT: Baby sitter is receives menacing phone calls with the phrase "have you checked the children?"

Carol Kane is the last minute Baby Sitter for the Mandracs who are out to a good meal and and a movie~ a series of phone calls one about every 15 minutes has her teeth on edge when the male voices says "have you checked the Children?".....spooked to the point she finally calls the police and .....they calm her down and says it is just a prank agree to trace the calls~ but when the caller says "why HAVEN'T you checked the children?" she realzies she is being WATCHED~ from the Ticking Clock and the shadows on the wall~ Jill (Kane) is totally spooked when the caller calls one more time and this time she keeps him on the line and he says he wants her "blood all over him" and she hangs up and the police call her saying the calls are coming from "inside" the house~ she opens the front door~ and freaks when a man is there~

it is a police man~Charles Durning~ they find Kurt Duncan hiding in the kids closet .....he has killed them with his bare hands~ and was using an upstairs phone to spook the baby sitter~

7 years later....the same police officer is now a private detective~ (Charles Durning) is hired by Dr. Mandracas to KILL Duncan when he escapes from the Insane asylum~Durning now scowers skid row looking for Kurt psycho who is homeless who leads him to Colleen Dewhurts~ a woman Duncan has 'imposed' himself on ....a thrilling trail leads to Duncan ...

Luck is with Duncan who escapes one more time~

sees a newspaper photos ~ of Jill now married with 2 small children in the paper~ and she receives a call "have you checked the children?"

GREAT ENDING~ DOES NOT DRAG FOR A MINUTE~

excellent thrills ~no blood~ but edge of your seat thrills~

I GIVE IT A 10 OUT OF 10 FOR scares~ and more scares~~

I like the original better than the new one. Great suspense. When a Stranger Calls Back is great, too.

This is the original movie on which the new version is loosely based. This version is by far better than the recent release. It is scarier, and the story line is better. Although not a blockbuster, worth the viewing.

Great Movie, very suspensful! I had seen the second part, but never the first, was glad I bought it. Sometimes the older movies are the best. Would recommend to anyone who is into suspense movies.

I purchased the dvd "when a stranger calls" because I had seen the remake and couldn't remember what happened in the original movie (I had seen it many years ago). I enjoyed the movie. It had some exciting moments although it got a boring in the middle. Anyway, the dvd itself was in excellent condition and arrived in a timely manner.

There is nothing that I disliked about the product.
