Strait Jacket (DVD, 2002)

I bought Strait-Jacket because I wanted to see Lee Majors'debut in a movie and, although his character is killed before main titles appear,he gives a performance to remember. This black and white movie by William Castle is a thriller made the old way, a perfect mix of suspence,screams, mysterious glances, insanity and with a wow! finale...
If you love the so called "seventh art", you'll certainly appreciate the extras which include "The Making of Strait Jacket" and also a recent interview to Carol Baker (Joan Crawford's daughter in the movie) who remembers what shooting S.J. was like and tries to explain why this movie is still worth a talk and, of course, a watch!

I was searching and searching to try to find a dvd of William Castle's "Strait Jacket" for under $20, and finally I found one thru ebay. The seller literally delivered the goods; I have no complaints. Joan Crawford is excellent as the "struggling-to-remain-sane-tho-her-world-is-collapsing-around-her" actress. Crawford is believable as a battle axe of a harpy in this fun flick, being dead-on serious with material another actress wouldn't have the skill or talent to create, involve herself with. The quality of the dvd was great and in in good condition. I have watched this movie over and over and it never fails to make chuckle. The rest of cast is good...her daughter played by a very sympathetic and understanding Diane Baker..George Kennedy as the sleazy farm hand Leo Krouse. The head chopping-off scenes are cheesy and campy. I've wondered if "Strait Jacket" was filmed on a real farm out west; the interiors and exterior shots look very real...that helps this movie very much. If you're a fan of camp, Joan Crawford, or Bill Castle movies this movie is not to be missed. Don't worry though, you CAN watch this movie in the dark and no bad dreams...have some fun and see "Strait Jacket". :-)+++

NEVER GOT TO SEE THE END OF THIS MOVIE, IT LEFT ME WONDERING WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END. YOUR MIND KEEPS CHANGING ABOUT WHO IS REALLY DOING ALL THE KILLING. KEEPS YOU IN SUSPENSE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!
