The Story of the World, History for the Classical Child by Susan Wise Bauer (2006, Paperback, Revised)

History is many stories combined into one, so why not tell history through stories. As an experienced high school teacher, I have found that students learn best through stories. This book, though written for elementary students, is great for my students who have low to below average reading skills. It makes reading fun again. My 6 year old loves for me to read it to him. This four volume set should be on the shelf in every parents home!

As a homeschooling parent, we initially borrowed this book from our library. We enjoyed it so much we decided to purchase a copy and continue our studies. This book is a great way to learn chronologically when you start with book 1 and go through book 3. Easy to understand and fun when you combine with the corresponding activity books.

For an encyclopedia, it does not get as into evouloution after the first few pages as most do. It is an excellent resource for chronological order of history. It you are a creationist it will work (with very MINOR areas of evoloution) I recommend this very much as it is easy for elementary students to read and understand! My 2nd grader has no problem reading this and understanding the information!
