O.A.R.'s reputation as a frat house jam band is somewhat misleading (although the group does have a tendency to stretch songs out on stage). The truth is that this pop-rock quintet craft strong, memorable songs, as the band's fourth studio album, 2005's STORIES OF A STRANGER, attests. With lead singer Marc Roberge's vocals leading the way, the band makes music that is bright, groovy (there is still a fair bit of the reggae flavor on which O.A.R. built their sound), and highly listenable. The slick production makes the material ready-made for radio, but STORIES OF A STRANGER is more than adult-alternative fluff; there are moments of emotional resonance and lyrical depth, especially on absorbing, narrative-driven tunes like "Stranger."

    This is a good CD to have if you like OAR. I got this cd mostly because of one song on it (Track 2: Love And Memories). I just love the words and emotions in this song. Great group that has a great beat to most of there songs.
