Stevie Ray plays his usual kick butt guitar. he pays homage to our guitar God Jimi Hendrix with 3rd stone from the sun and voodoo child. this is a must have for any SRV fan or if you like Hendrix, check this guy out!

Stevie Ray was the real deal...........awesome
Review created: 12/17/09

If you never got a chance to see SRV live this is as intimate as it gets. recorded in a club for the supporting tour of his first CD, it's just incendiary.
i do believe this was his "pre-sober" era. You could never tell by his playing but the buckets of sweat are a giveaway. During Texas Flood he does this little spin move and the guitar is behind his back, he continues to play and sing better than we could copy with our instrument out front. i could go on and on. if you're looking to learn SRV skip the Koch videos and go straight to the "Real Deal" SRV.
Or just sit back and enjoy as a fan.

Mesmorizing to watch especially if you're a guitar player. This performance is in a bar setting but he gives a stadium quality effort.

Stevie Ray Vaughan Live at the El Mocambo
Review created: 09/05/09

I already had my own Live at the El Mocambo but I bought this DVD as a present for a female guitar player that I know. If you like Stevie Ray, or blues, or rock, this performance is a MUST HAVE. It's a classic if there ever was one ! Stevie was totally in the zone that night and it was power trio perfection. Like Jimi Hendrix, the music world has yet to fill Stevie's vacancy. Enjoy.....

This is a classic performance by one of the most legendary guitarists of all time.
With classics like "Pride and Joy" and "Tell Me" and even a cover of Jimi Hendrixs' "VooDoo Chile" it showcases Stevie Ray's talent and virtuosity in his earliest days.
Any SRV fan should not be without this awesome concert in their collection.

  One of the guitar greats

I bought this DVD for my daughter's fiance because he is a SRV fan, as it seems my whole family is. Truth be told, I had a hard time not keeping the DVD for myself. What a loss Stevie's death was. It makes me wonder what he would be doing now, and how he would have changed and grew. Man, that Rock 'n Roll Heaven certainly has a fantastic band (paraphrasing an old song)!

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble
Review created: 12/09/08

We have not opened the case as it is a Christmas present. We bought it because it was something my husband had owned before, but we lost our possessions this year in a tornado. The price of this item was very reasonable, the ad was professional and well-outlined.

Good, but there are better SRV DVDs available
Review created: 08/30/08(updated 08/30/08)

I ordered two SRV live performance DVDs, they were Live at Montreux and this. I have to say that the Montreux 2-disc set feels much more complete than this one. This is just a straight live performance at a club with little extra, while Live at Montreux has two performances from a Jazz festival, set three years apart.
That set includes guest appearances by Johnny Copeland, who joins SRV on three songs, and a documentary with John Mayer, Jackson Browne, and Double Trouble reflecting on the performances. It also includes a neat insert featuring pictures of the band, quotes from SRV and other famous musicians reflecting back on the performances.
I watched El Mocambo first, was satisfied with it, but not blown away. Then I watched Montreux and realized that it blew Mocambo out of the water. If you're just a casual SRV fan and want the live experience, then I suggest you go for Montreux instead.

Stevie Ray Vaughan- Live at the El Mocambo
Review created: 06/23/08

Amazing footage of Stevie Ray Vaughn's first album tour from 1983. The track "Texas Flood" alone was worth the cost of this dvd, and then there's the rest of the show which was amazing. The high-energy blues-rock, blues, and all the rest are testament to the musical genius of this guitar legend, and all the magic of his live performances is captured in this video. BUY IT!

Best Accidental Live Club Video EVER !!!
Review created: 03/11/08

This Stevie Ray Vaughan video is awesome. The camera happened to be there to record another act and they just recorded Stevie for practice which resulted in one of the most incredible live recordings not only of his musical career, but possibly one of the best live recordings of all time. It's too bad his life was cut short, as we would have experienced many more Stevie Ray patented guitar licks, and new tricks. He never received the credit he deserved for being a guitar wizard. Watch this video and try to not be amazed at what he does with that guitar. I guarantee you will not believe your eyes or ears.

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Live at the El Ma

THIS IS A GREAT DVD. My Husband is a Big Fan of "Stevie Ray Vaughan" I THINK THIS VIDEO SHOWS THE TONE HE HAD QUITE NICELY. THIS DVD MAKES ME WISH MORE AND MORE THAT I COULD SEE HIM LIVE. YOU SEE AND HEAR PEOPLE AND ARTISTS NOW A DAYS THAT TRY TO IMITATE THAT TONE. ITS NO USE TO EVEN TRY BECAUSE OF THE PASSION, AND POWER THATS QUITE NOTICABLE IN HIS GUITAR PLAYING. I RECOMMEND THIS DVD TO ANYONE. IT IS THE SLOSEST THING YOU WILL GET TO SEEING HIM LIVE.

  One of a Kind
Review created: 07/03/07

I saw this video several years ago and it just blew me away. I did not know what to expect and I could tell that the people in the audience at this small club in Canada didn't either. The way SRV played guitar was unmatched on many levels. The beat up Stratocaster was truly an extension of his body. Truthfully, there is no way for me to convey the contents of this DVD. All I can say is if you love guitar, you must see this, and prepared to be blown away.

This DVD of SRV & Double Trouble live at the El Macambo is truly a must have for any SRV fan. Stevie's musical genius is captured very well at this show.

If you play the guitar pick this bad boy up, you wont be sorry. SRV blows the paint off the walls at this concert.

The disc also has very interesting interviews with the bassist and drummer of Double Trouble. They talk about what they remember from the show, and how it was really a magical night.

  Stevie Ray Vaughan

This is early, almost raw footage of Stevie Ray doing a gig at the El Macambo in Toronto. It shows his astounding guitar work up close and personal. It's difficult to comprehend how much talent this man had unless you've seen him live. This footage is the closest most of us will ever get.

  SRV for life
Review created: 12/04/06
by:

Man, SRV is one exceptionally talented guitarist. This DVD shows how talented he was before he was fully known. The way he attacked the strings on that guitar is where he got his sound and his dumble amps. He's legit. It's ashame that the younger generation doesn't know what real legitimate music is. This Britney Spears and American Idol crap is bogus.
