Album Notes Despite Steve Harvey's name being featured above the title, SIGN OF THINGS TO COME is not a comedy album. Instead it's a collection of the dapper King Of Comedy's hottest picks of the year in gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. Harvey was inspired by the music he spun on his morning show on a California radio station. Harvey's goal in helping to compile this collection was to pick songs "about love, about feeling, about partying, and about a good time." That said, the West Virginia native and a crew of producers including Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Puff Daddy picked quite a roster of established names. Included in this esteemed company are hip-hop-soul queen Mary J. Blige (the P.Diddy/Mario Winans "No More Drama" remix), balladeer Joe (the silk sheet ode "Lovers Prayer") and gospel icon Yolanda Adams (the inspirational "A Song Of Faith"). Other notables making the cut are hip-hop superstar Mr. Cheeks (the slammin' "Let's Get Wild"), neo-soul chanteuse Angie Stone (a slow burning "The Messenger") and Bad Boy lothario Carl Thomas with the simmering "Sweet Delite." Most promising is the section of next major stars-unsigned rookies whose talents range from the harmony-driven male vocal group Nine20 to the very Prince-like Dejur.
