Stepmom (DVD, 1999, Closed Captioned)

This movie is a tough one to watch because many of the scenes (especially during the first hour) are riddled with tension -- the kind you feel when you've just confronted someone head-on. Everyone fights -- parents, children, ex-wife and girlfriend, stepmother and children; you almost feel like you've been inadvertantly caught with a friend when she decides to have a major argument with a family member -- makes you want to slip out of the room until the storm is over.
Chris Columbus did a wonderful job directing this film -- the arguments were uncomfortable, but they were supposed to be. Better, there were some poignant moments that really worked. STEPMOM is a realistic fable with just a touch of magic to make the audience happy.

The cast was superb -- Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon gave great performances, and the kids were both adorable and the biggest brats you've ever seen a great combination (My hats off to these kids. GREAT acting & VERY convincing). Ed Harris was superb as a warm, level headed, very caring father trying to keep balance in these tough & trying situations - He SHINES in this role!!

This movie is everything a drama is supposed to be: funny, moving, difficult, sad. Chris Columbus captured some beautiful moments, and some hard ones as well, making the audience better for the journey. A very well rounded film.

Personal rating - Very Good, Solid acting by the films cast. The chemistry really works well in the crucial scenes making this difficult story a success.

hi, this is Danny Hoskins (ruester06) i have been buying stuff from ebay for sometime now and i have never been ripped off as bad as you all , i sent a money order out in the mail for the amount $13.60 and the dvd movie (step mom) and i have still not recieved my movie. i don't know what the hold up is but i would like my movie or my money back , one or the other please i have been waiting over a month now for this movie at it was a gift for my future wife's birthday and its the one thing she wanted and never got so here is my mailing address i want my money or the dvd movie either one. thank you ruester06

I absolutely adore this movie, but it makes me cry everytime! The movie portrays Julie Roberts as the stepmom to two kids, whose biological mother is played by Susan Sarandon. Both actresses to an impecible job playing thier respective roles. This movie deals with real life issues and you will identify with the characters. There are some simply beautiful moments in this movie that will make you laugh, then make you cry.

Susan Serandon and Julia Roberts are magnifacent in this very touching and heartwarming film about a devorced woman who finds out that her ex is remaring and that she is dieing of cancer... She eventually relises she must get over her haitred for the "other woman" and learn to get along for the sake of her childrens future.... Without her... It will bring you to tears!!!

I love this movie because it takes the best of two actresses. Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon. It deals with real life issues, and the difficulties that goes along with the death of a parent. The emotional aspect of this film had to be very difficult to come across with.

I bought this as a movie my children and I could watch together. Julia Roberts is phenomenal in this movie. Can be a great lesson for children

A great movie to laugh and cry with. Being a step family we take alot more from it than I think some may see, and for those who are step families I encourage you to sit as a family and take this one it! It was helpful to get the kids to talk abou tit afterwards and see it through thier eyes as well... bottom line great all around

I LOVED THIS MOVIE! This movie is a great reason to sit with
your quilt and box of kleenex, Julia Roberts is the stepmom. She marries,
an older man who is divorced with 2 children. The children live with their
mother and when they visit DAD, Julia tries so hard to get them to like
her that the mother is jealous. The kids don't want to like her because they
do not want to hurt their mothers feelings. This movie is so true to life, in that sense that mothers do not often want to share their childrens love with
the OTHER woman. Oh what a great turn of events in this movie, it really
makes you think that everything will always turn out ok, and it does.
YOU MUST SEE THIS!

It's a great movie that shows all sorts of twists in people's characters and behavior. It makes you think. For example, the movie shows how unpredictable the human nature is, and how we can be nice one moment and nasty the next, while still remaining a decent person! The movie is half-comedy half-drama, or that's what I thought. I highly recommend watching this movie - it's one of the best with Julia Roberts in it.

This movie goes down as one of my favorites of all time! The acting is excellent from each performer and it's filled with a perfect balance of drama with a taste of comedy. For me, this movie is a must have!

This movie really hit home with me because my Mother had Cancer and died and my Dad remarried and so I now have a Stepmom we get along somewhat but nothing ever takes the place of your Mother at least it's that way with me.

Love this movie. Chick flick, a bit of a tear jerker towards the end. Great story line. Love the way the 2 families come and work together for the kids.
