Synopsis Bich Minh Nguyen arrived in Michigan from Vietnam when she was a baby, and--living with her father and stepmother--plunged happily into American food and pop culture: Hamburger Helper, Hostess Twinkies, and some of the worst TV shows of the 1970s and ‘80s. This memoir details, often hilariously, her attempts to fit into American culture, with a poignant undertone of sadness for the Vietnamese mother who was left behind.
