One of the most diverse guitarists of all time, Chet Atkins has proved his worth over and over in a variety of musical settings. On STAY TUNED, Atkins teams up with some of the most acclaimed jazz and rock guitarists of the last 25 years. STAY TUNED is a kind of guitarist's summit, with Chet, the elder statesmen, leading the proceedings. On "Sunrise," for example, George Benson plays a fiery jazz solo over a Latin-inflected groove. Not to be outdone, on the next track Steve Lukather blazes trails with distorted rock/fusion licks. "Quiet Eyes" features the jazzy stylings of Larry Carlton, while "Some Leather and Lace" features the bluesy playing of Brent Mason and Mark Knopfler. All totaled, eight guitarists, in addition to Atkins, guest on STAY TUNED, a veritable guitarist's dream. Recorded in 1985, STAY TUNED has a dated sound/production. However, the performances by these nine "six stringers" more than makes up for any of the '80s cheese.
