Whatever your thoughts on global warming, this book will give you new information on the subject. Great storyline using real data to back up claims. Good mix of reality and fiction on a controversial subject, Crichton takes you on a journey through the myths and realities of climate change and lets you make your own choice on the subject. A must read.

I don't know if I'm a Crichton book fan, I found this book very hard to get into and after two disk's I was still not getting a good direction of where it was leading. It was an interesting novel though, but I could never completely finish it, maybe it was me, but in other Crichton novels, I wasn't so lost.

State of Fear by Michael Crichton (2004)

There are two things I need from the people that I buy from: 1 that I receive the item and 2 that I receive the item in a reasonable time frame. This vendor met them. So, I think they are very good.

not the book for you. As in all Crichton books he blends science, history and action. In this book he takes a huge shot at the Global Waming police. While not all of his information is real, it is a fiction book, after you read this book you will definitely walk away with a different view of global warming.

  Thrilling, realistic and interesting read!

State of Fear was recommended to me by a friend because I am very environmentally active. This book has the usual thrilling aspects of 'can't stop reading' that Dean Koontz usually presents in his books with actual facts regarding the state of the environment and various information about global warming and such. The book was wonderful and I would definately read it again.

A must read for all environmentally active individuals and for all Dean Koontz lovers.

Only the most zealously faithful environmental practitioner will come away from State of Fear without a sense that Global Warming has been grossly misrepresented.

  Thought Provoking and Action Packed

I have both read the novel and listened to the audio cd. At times the book seemed overly factual with graphs and data. But I found the cd the more enjoyable media. I gained a more enlightened perspective on "global warming".
Let's face it most our "news" and "weather" have minimal truth and maximum hype as the basis for existence. This novel explores the results and conspiracies. It is well done! I really recommend the cd.

  This was exciting

As a critic of global warming this was indeed a great novel. I couldn't wait till I got to the end. There was so much research the author did to make this book real that my hat goes off to him. He made you like the characters and want to know more. He drove you into the story line with out a problem. I loved the way the story very easily went from one side of the world to another anf how all the leg work in the beginning tied in at the end just when you were thinking "I wonder why such and such was said in the beginning." Crichton is a wonderful writer and I love this topic that he wrote on and the way he wrote it. Every one who is watching global warming speeches and being forced to learn it in school should also be required to read or listen to this book.

  Great Yet Again

I usually enjoy Crichton's books and this one was no exception. The basic plot is that a radical group of environmentalists are plotting several major natural disaters. It is up to the few main characters to stop them from killing off thousand of people with their plan to demonstrate the hazards of global warming. While the beginning does leave you with some unsolved murders, I found it a bit slow in getting started. Bit once Crichton gets the ball rolling it never stops. He must have had to do hours and hours of research for this book. And while you never really believe that global warming has been created from thin air, it does leave you with some questions about the media and societies general "state of fear". You will understand if you read the book, I don't want to spoil it! Great action, impeccable research, an overall terrific read!

Michael Crichton as his very best. Terrific timing and character delvelopement. Also and, as usual, Crichton did an enormous amount of research in order to develope the story line and subplots with accurate intrigue and detail!

  Crichton Does it Again
Review created: 09/08/06

After Night Fall, I expected to be disappointed...no such thing. While listening, I didn't want to get out of my car when I got home. Just wanted to stay wrapped up in the story. I don't think Michael Crichton could write a bad book.
