A very entertaining program that can last for years.

My wife and I are living overseas and bought a few seasons of TV shows to show at home when the satellite reception is poor or the offerings are scarce. Stargate, SG-1 has become one our favorite programs to show on our home projector with popcorn in the evening because it's well-written, has a reasonable storyline and doesn't take itself too seriously. A major thing my wife likes about it is that although characters from previous episodes do pop back in for occasional cameo appearances, one is not required to have viewed all prior episodes to keep from being lost in the plotline (though the cameos do enrich the "universe is a small place" theme). I like it because although the show ran for ten seasons or so, each new episode felt varied and fresh enough that I didn't find myself being bored by a formulaic weekly where the plot is a carbon copy of the prior episode and only the supporting cast ever changes (granted, we're only two seasons in, so far).
In all, I'd say SG-1 is a terrific program that we'll keep watching until the last episode of the final season.
