Stargate Continuum (2nd movie on DVD after Season 10)
Review created: 09/10/08(updated 01/05/09)

This is the second DVD release (2008) after the end of the TV run for Stargate SG-1. The plot involves the Goa'uld leader Ba'al using a time traveling device to change past history by intercepting the Stargate that was discovered back in 1939 and was being transported by a freighter. Teal'c and Vala have their previous history rewritten. The remaining team members have to find a way to get to one of the hidden stargates in order to undo Ba'al's history alterations. The Goa'uld invasion fleet arrives at Earth to take it over. The Stargate at Antarctica becomes inaccessible and the team goes to Russia to find the other gate. Eventually, it is up to Cameron Mitchell to travel back in time to stop Ba'al from the point at when he changed history. I have also seen the Stargate: the Ark of Truth DVD release (2007). Comparing the two, I would have to say that the first DVD movie had a better plot and scenery. The first DVD release seemed to fit in a movie screen better than the second DVD release. This particular episode felt more like one that was made for the TV screen. The plot was OK, but the issue regarding time travel and having two exact people from different time periods existing at the same time was never fully explained. Also, the ending when Mitchell "corrects" the time line also left a hole as to how he was able to return back to the original beginning part of the movie (if he used the Stargate to go back to place to where he started, what happened to his "double"?). But I guess time travel themed movies always leave many unanswered questions.
