STARCHILD TRILOGY °°UNDERSEA TRILOGY it isn't-

While trying to find 1970 editions of the Pohl/ Williamson Undersea trilogy, because I wanted the fine cover art, I happened upon this paperback. I'd read the first of the trio, "The Reefs of Space" 20 years ago, and didn't much care for it. It isn't juvie fare, like the Undersea set, and the other two books, STARCHILD & ROGUE STAR just sort of amble aimlessly. (Lin Carter wrote a book called STAR ROGUE a year later. While quite horrible, it is better than this mess.)
It pains me to write this, because Pohl is one of my favorite authors, but he really dosen't wake up until the mid 70's and the GATEWAY stories.
On the other hand, with so much crappy SF being printed today, it gives the casual reader time to go back and find things he missed and with the eBay and others, we can get them cheaper than new paperbacks, so not much is lost when you come across something forgetable like this.
Oh, the plot....ummm, individualistic men fight draconian universal government and form new society away from Earth.
Heinlein did it better.
