Star Wars Trilogy (1995, VHS)

I have collected Star Wars movies since first seeing the first movie. I liked the action and it was a movie my husband and I saw together close to our first wedding anniversary. WE were in the Army stationed at Ft Hood, TX and he reenlisted and had gone to advanced training in Colorado. He and I enjoyed going to movies to be a night out as our family grew. I cannot do this anymore as he passed away in 2005 from a massive heart attack. This is my link with him and also his family's link to his love of science fiction and computer technology and graphics. He was a computer engineer and worked on many major projects in the areas of national defense and national safety. When he passed he had just received his 10 year service award from the FBI and completed over 18 years of Federal service both military and civilian employee. Additionally he worked in the public sector as a employee on major Defense contracts.
This Star Wars Trilogy was all I was missing to make the movie collection complete.

If you've never seen any of the Star Wars movies, you should. It's a piece of America itself. The movies are timeless and are a classic tale of good vs evil, the oppressed full of hope attempting to change their future with nothing to lose. I saw Star Wars as a kid in 1977 at the theater with my parents and I've loved the movies ever since. My nephew is now the same age I was when I saw the original movies and he loves them too. VHS format is a great way to go if you don't want to invest a lot of money and you still have a working VCR. This trilogy also has interviews with George Lucas the creator of Star Wars.

One interesting note is that the movies were not released in order. George started with A New Hope #4 then released #5 and #6. Then in 1999 #1 The Phantom Menace was released and due to order it becomes a prequel. Then #2 and #3 are released. Amazingly each of these movies are stand alone meaning you could watch them without seeing the others and still enjoy a good movie.

To me the only factor that doesn't work in releasing #4 first was that due to advancements in cinematography they look older than #1,2,3 and less advanced when in reality they would be the most current. I thought it would have been interesting if George could have filmed the first three, waited about 5 years and then filmed 4,5,6 then release them in the same order he did. I know budgets don't really allow for that, but it could have been interesting.

If you can't stand older movies and prefer the graphic advances of newer movies then start with Episode #1 (1999) and watch them in order.

Wanted to purchase this movie for my daughter's collection. The first time I saw Star Wars was in 70's and we were in Florida. I didn't much know what was going on but the kids loved it, and if they were happy, so was I.

Maybe you did not see, but I stole a copy of the "Star Wars Trilogy".
I had the idea to, after watching the enhanced versions of "Star Wars", find the original VHS copies of them to digitally record without the added scenes. I found them at an unbelievable price and purchased as though no one else had even seen them.
"Star Wars Trilogy Boxed Set--Brand-New/Factory-Sealed!" is what they said, so I took them at their word but put no further thought into it. After a short while and many updates from the conscientious seller, I received my package. I was excited but still they sat on my desk for some time, not being aware of what I found.
Later that night I leisurely opened the wrapping and was set aside by the near perfect condition my purchase was in. I realized my plans had to change and I had to get a second copy of the originals to record from. The service and communication along with integrity and quality products led me back to collectiblesbydor. where I found exactly what I was looking for.

Excellent version of the trilogy! Before any touch-ups done by Lucas. The one and only set to own!

I don't care much for Star Wars II and III--too hoaky.

Lucas lacks a mature sense of erotic imagination so the love scenes are embarrassing between Leah and Hans.

Luke's character was misdirected. In Star Wars I and II they over-emphasised his youthfull innocense and consequently his character has a "golly shucks" mentality that's annoying for adults.

I bought this trilogy only because I wanted to record the incredible space scenes, using my video camera aimed at my TV.

I'd always wanted to see the original Star Wars movies, and I decided to see if I could find them cheap on ebay. Of course I did because you can find almost anything cheap on ebay, so I bought the trilogy set and loved it. After seeing them, I also bought the prequels and was very satisfied with them as well. I would recommend these movies to anyone who enjoys action, adventure, science fiction, or who just enjoys good movies in general.

This is a visually stunning movie, Even today. This movie, released originally in 1977 was so far ahead of it's time that it's scary. George Lucas pionerred and created new filming and speacial effects tecnices that are still relivant and still used today. Without the pioneer efforts of this movie most of todays big box office hits wouldn't be possible. This film is fun and action pact, it spawned two sequals, 3 prequals, several made for tv movies and many many cartoon series. + hundreads of books, toys, lunch boxes, underwear, toothbrushed, dog holloween costumes and any other bizarr thing you can tink of... Star wars is one of the greatest movies ever and george lucas is a god!!!

i love the old star wars and i wanted to get the origional vibe and get the three video set. im a bit of a nerd for the star wars, love them. the purchase was excellent and really cheap. you couldnt buy the videos in any stores in my town, and definatly not for the price i got it.

I purchased the videos for a gift. My daughter attended a 6 year-old birthday party for a friend in which it was Star Wars theme, So instead of purchasing a toy he may already have or end up not playing with, my daughter and I agreed that he would enjoy the movies. He loved the gift! He did not have theses movies. It was also cheaper than buying the DVD set of the trilogy. Plus VHS tapes can last longer, even if they get knocked around a bit. A DVD not as long.

have always been a big fan of the star wars films over the years.Ebay made it easy foe me to purchase the fill set of the 3 videos.It was just as the seller said they were clear,the clairly was amazing no faults ,and no failures through the whole movie.It was amazing

Considering how old it was, it looked like it never been touched. Tapes are working well and my son loves them.

Found this listed and could not believe my luck in winning the bid. One of my all time favorite movies [all three of them]. Just an old scifi kid at heart. VHS tapes were in excellent condition. What else can I say----I'm in scefi heaven!!!

I bought this set for my sister who has two children and really wanted it.VHS is hard to find now and the price on this was great. She loved it and I was happy to find it on ebay for her.

This movie is a huge classic. My oldest son just adorse this movie. He plays these movies just about everyday. Great!
