  Great Game!

This game was a tremendous upgrade from the first.

My favorite thing about this one is the ability to use your dexterity rather than your strength as your melee and lightsabre "to hit" bonus. This is important if you want a true, dexterious jedi, that can actually hit stuff. I enjoyed playing this game through many times with many different character types. My favorite was the Sith Lord. The power is amazing! I love the idea of playing a Star Wars game that is outside of the plot of the movies. Pick this up if you are a fan of Star Wars and a fan of RPGs!

This game is very addicting. When you first play it you cant put it down for atleast 10 hours after playing it. I think it is very cool how you can create a character (boy or girl) and make them either into a Jedi or Sith. Plus you can make people that join you go to the dark side or light side depending on what choice you make in the game. I recommend this for any star wars fan and even if your not, I bet this game will make you one.

Reviewed for Big Boss Games by: bargainzandmore

Knights of the Old Republic II, A.K.A. the Sith Lords or K.O.T.O.R. II. This game rocks!

The saga continues unveiling even more plot twists from the first KOTOR. Be a Jedi or a dark Sith, it's up to you, and your friends will ally with you either way.

Wield new force powers that weren't available in the first game, & explore new planets.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this game a 9.6. I've never seen a perfect game. It's only available for the XBOX game console.

Unlike the first installment, I'm amazed at how easy it was this time around, save the last Boss battle (which is actually cake once you figure out the weakness). I'm happy to say that the characters are a little more diverse this time. If you read my last review on KotOR, you'd know that I had a problem with the rehashed character models. But that's not to say I didn't run into any of these clones, just less this time. And not to mention I could finally pick a Jedi with a beard!
Speaking of easy, I couldn't believe how ridiculously easy the enemies like Dark Jedi, Elite Sith and Bounty Hunters were. And ironically enough, the Boss's were even bigger push overs. Take Darth Nihilus, you know him as that scary masked guy on the box art, well right from the start he's portrayed as this unstoppable planet killer who gobbles up Jedi like fresh popcorn. Not so, if I spent 90 seconds on him that was a lot.

Another issue was the frame rate. It fluctuated more than the emotions of a pregnant woman in her 2nd trimester. This happend as more enemies cluttered the screen. On a number of occasions it got so bad my game literally turned into a slide show making it impossible to coordinate any attacks until some of the bad guys died off. This is a big "no-no" for console games, considering the hardware is built-in and not upgradeable like a PC. There were still a number of issues still not fully addressed from the previous game. One was the leveling up of light/dark force points, again if you fill the meter, that was pretty much it. There was no real incentive to keep on doing the good or bad you were doing, well there was a "light + con" bonus I got, but it was negligible.

Another pet pieve was the gratuitously awkward menu screens. It was such a chore sifting through it all. For example when you try to upgrade your characters equipment on the workbench, you couldn't tell who had what and which would best fit them next, all it showed was if it was equipped or not. You'd have to exit the workbench and go back through the character menu's, with their 11 different slots (It stopped being fun when I had 10 party members to work with). It was unnecessary trial and error BS I never want to do again. Remember the dumb swoop bike races? Their back, only now with moving obstacles...that explode! Yippie. This time I chose not to even bother. They also left out that pointless Ebon Hawk gun turret mini-game *mouths the words*-"Thank God!" And you know what, I think I had a better gaming experience because of it.

Lastly was the convoluted story integration from the previous KotOR. Through out the game your given scattered insight of our last character Revan which almost never fit the way we remembered him...uh...her. See, thats the problem. The developer couldn't make up their minds. At various points in the game Revan is referred to by many NPC's as a "she" and later again a "he". And if that wasn't bad enough, some NPC's commented on the things I never did on different worlds. Once I was told how Revan went into Adjunta Palls tomb on Korriban quelling the Jedi spirit for his sword. Thing is, I was never able to get into that Tomb for some reason, the door was always locked despite any of my characters security skills, I made many trips to Korriban right up til the end of the game trying to unlock it, no dice. Over all KotoR2 was a great game despite its flaws. As long as you're a fan of movie and game, you'll be happy.

This game is awesome. It is really cool how you can customize your character as either a man or woman, and you can become a sith or a jedi. This game is totally immersive and very fun. You can really become a fan of star wars just from playing this game. New, this games about 30 bucks. Very good purchase, i would say. Its single player Rpg.

This game featured superb gameplay and a variety of options. It could be different each and every time you play it. The interfaces were easy to navigate and even a novice RPG player could pick this up. KOTR II also did a wonderful job of immersing the player right into the Star Wars Universe with some new storylines.

Q: Why did you purchase Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (Xbox version)?
A: It's the sequel to Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.
Q: What did you like most about this title?
A: The game play. It's got a much darker story than the original just like "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back".
Q: What did you least like about this title?
A: Nothing. Well perhaps Kreia.....definitely Kreia.

Fans of the original KOTOR certainly have their hands full with the sequel, which packs in an even longer campaign that will again, test their affinity for the light or dark side of the Force.
Five years after the events from the award winning Knights of the Old Republic, the Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi to the edge of extinction and are on the verge of crushing the Old Republic. With the Jedi Order in ruin, the Republic’s only hope is a Jedi Knight struggling to reconnect with the Force and is faced with the galaxies most dire decision: To follow the light or succumb to the dark side…

The game is a fantastic RPG, the usability is another.

I have to say the original KOTOR and this KOTOR are outstanding action RPGs by my classification. The original KOTOR nearly destroyed my Xbox and this one is no different.

The game is actually nearly unplayable on both my day 1 Xbox and my near EOL Xbox.

It will just randomly freeze up, I have a feeling this is mainly do to the poor quality of the Xboxs in general.

I've had similiar problems with games of this type, ie. Jade Empire.

However, the crappiness of the Xbox aside the game itself is awesome. I got around the Xbox being crappy by purchasing the PC version and have loved every minute of it. Not to mention that www.nzone.com has updated High Rez movies and audio for the PC version for free.

All of that aside, If you are looking for a cheap great RPG, try to find this or the original KOTOR. You don't need to have completed or played the first to still enjoy this one. However, it does make the game a bit more satisifying.

This game has more glitchs then the first one, but has more in detailed parts and items. IT has some new planets to visit but has 2 of the same planets but with different storys. Graphics 7 out of 10, story 10 out of 10, game play 10 out of 10, controls 7 out of 10. This is an RPG where you don't attack but you do control movement and chose attacks and force powers. story goes as you are an exiled jedi who ship gets captured and an old jedi helps you to regain your touch with the force.

The first KotOR is better, but still a fun game
Review created: 07/24/06

KotOR 2 is a great game and all, but it's not quite as good as its predeccesor. The graphics are nearly exactly the same as the first, which came out like 5 years ago. Lame. It's almost a requirement these days that game sequels have better graphics. If you enjoyed the first KotOR then you should get it, though the store price is too high.

The main thing is that this game is too much like the first. The only 3 really noticable differences are: new story, your alignment and additude affects your allies, and the random items found. In the first game all of the monsters dropped the same things, and the boxes contained the same things. In this game most containers have totally random items in them, allowing you to get the most powerful stuff at the very beginning and also get nothing but garbage the entire game. Other than those 3 things the game is almost exactly the same.

WARNING: Do NOT beat this game as a dark side jedi first because the ending is comepletely unexplained and it's totally pointless trying to beat it if you haven't beat the game as a light side jedi first (I won't give away the light side ending, but as a dark side jedi you see yourself, then the camera zooms out until all you can see the planet you are on, and that's it, that's the ending, there's NOTHING else at all).

Over all it's a good game and is worth buying, but only if you enjoyed the first game and are hungry for more.

Wonderful world of KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic)
Review created: 07/02/06
by:
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I picked up this game because it is the sequel to what is probably my all time favorite game, Knights of the Old Republic is a 3rd person role playing game, where you control the main character, known as 'The Exile' and up to two of your companions. There is a lot of mystery and intrique, there is also a bit of silliness and fun. While its not necessary to have played KOTOR I to play and enjoy this game, I would strongly recommend picking it up. In general things in KOTOR I worked well, and the game designers tried not to mess with success. They did make a few improvements, especially with customizing your weapons, armor and lightsaber. Plus adding a myriad of colors for the lightsabers, not just the basics.
In general the game play is very smooth and easy to understand, even if you aren't really into role-playing games. One thing that I personally love about this (and most Star Wars games) is that you don't have to be the good guy, you can also 'fall to the dark side'. This almost makes it two games in one. It also changes the way people in the game react to you.
There are really only two slight weaknesses that I've found in the game. One, they changed the way some of the menu screens interface, and it made them a bit difficult to get through. The second is a lack of variety in the animal enemies. There are a few times where the cutscenes get a little long, almost cinematic in sweep, and while that's cool the first time of two, if you have to go back and repeat a section, it can get a bit old.
In general this is a great game, and I'm looking forward to them hopefully doing a third installment!

Anyone who loved the first KOTOR and didn't want it to end will feel right at home playing this game. The storyline is not as extensive, but the in-universe feel and game-play remain excellent. I can't wait for a 3rd installment in this series. Two thumbs up!

Even though the game play is just the same as the first one (some extra fighting, power options and the ability recruit some Jedi's). The history of the Exile is awsome, it has a lot of elements that make the gaming experience very interesting and gets you inside the plot. Personally I think that choosing the dark side in this game is a lot more enjoyable than in KOTOR. I am looking forward fot the Return of Revan and his teaming with the Exile looking for new adventures in KOTOR 3 (?)

I loved the first KOTOR, so I had to get the second. The price has come down enough that this is an excellent value. I won't say this is any better or worse than the first one, but if you played the first you definetly have to get this one. If you haven't played the first one, you had better get them both.

Possibly the best XBOX game of all time.
Review created: 07/06/06
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Now, i've been playing the XBOX for a few years now, and i've played a lot of games. But I have never come across a game that it is so easy to get lost in. This game is great fun from start to finish. I played the first game and thought that it couldn't possibly get better than that. Boy was I wrong. In both games, actions your character performs, or things they say influence their alignment (as in light or dark side). This adds a new challenge to the game and makes for better gameplay. But, in the second game, you are not limited to just the light or dark side, but your character can gain a "prestige class". Not only can you be on the light or dark side, but your character can have a specialized class. They can be a Sith or a Jedi. Each prestige class has special benefits, including force powers limited to that particular class. Another great addition is influence. In the game, you affect the alignment(light or dark) of your companions, in addition to yourself. While all of this is cool, there is one little negative to this game. If you play this game, it will become obvious that Lucasarts rushed to get this game on the market. There are a lot of bugs in the game. None are really serious, except a few that may corrupt the file(allow it to no longer be played). My favorite factor of the game is the story line and wisdom that can be applied to everyday life. You don't have to be really into Star Wars to see the wisdom there is in what many of the characters say. I will leave you now with this quote from one of the characters in the game: "It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it."

There is so much to do....and choosing between the light and dark side of the force is a lot of fun. My guy was really dark. It was awesome!

Great Storyline. Similar in some aspects to the first Kotor. The voice acting is good, the plot is very deep and engrossing. If the George Lucas movies were anything like the Kotor games, They would be fantastic! But I don't think George had anything to do with the story or the dialog between the characters.
This in not a twitch game. It takes careful thought as to how to reply to questions or statements that the other characters make. They all affect the story and how you get to the end.
