  The best Star Wars RPG

This game is what started Fable with the good and bad side. In this Star wars Game you can choose if you want to be on the Dark Side or the Light Side. The choices are simple through out the game you will be asked to perform certain task or certain choices you will have to make this will affect the good versus evil bar. The choice s you make also effect your appearance throughout the game. You can become the most powerful Sith Lord or the Best Jedi. This makes the game more appealing in my eyes. This has great graphics, great game play, and a Great story line. This has a high replay value your choices choose the ending. This is well worth the money to play.

That's pretty much what you'll be asking yourself throughout the game, because for some reason Bioware saw fit to reuse the same character models over and over again...everywhere. Normally this isn't the end of the world, but I noticed that paired with the cloned models, the majority of the dialogue(especially alien) was exactly the same and didn't fit with what was actually being said. You know something is wrong when your Wookie counterpart Zaalbar grunts and groans for for nearly a minute just to say three words. You'll find yourself constantly skipping through mountains of dialogue because you've heard it all a thousand times before, they really needed to individualize these characters some more. Don't believe me, talk to a few Twi'Lek's...you'll become a speed reader real fast.

Another thing which kinda chapped my ass was the swoop bike races. I found it more frustrating than fun seeing as how the developers left you with little margin for error (especially in the 2nd and 3rd tier/rounds). You also can't upgrade your swoop bike, even though that's what most of the other NPC do. But to be honest, even if you could upgrade your bike, the real question is: Would you even want to? I also found the Ebon Hawk gun turret mini-game equally boring and useless. There just wasn't any point to it other than to break things up between space travel, six fighters, awkward controls and nothing to it.

My last gripe and a rather minor one was the actual usage of your party members. Because lets face it, there were those in your party that were pretty much useless and only needed once to further the story (T3-M4 anyone?). I was disappointed at how your party members automatically leveled up even if you stopped using them altogether. But if you did manage to give one of your freeloadin Ebon Hawk stowaways another try to spice things up, fear not, they'll level up with everyone else regardless of how often you use them. I guess they didn't want any one character to get left behind if you really needed them to further the story later. Logical in theory, but it felt forced in the RPG scheme of things. Also, when you top off your characters light or dark side alignment, that's it, you can't be any more good or evil than you already are. So for example if your playing completely on the light side and peek that force meter all the way up, you don't get any incentives or rewards for doing more good, why bother. I found myself doing bad things from time-to-time just to have a change of pace, besides theres plenty of opportunities to do more good and make it up. And I was also a bit peeved making it thru the whole game only using light and universal powers, not knowing that you could use Dark powers without losing light points. Sure it costs more force points, but it would have been worth it.
The story was halfway decent. I liked all of the hidden character back stories and development. I actually felt compelled to talk to each and every member of my party just to get a little more insight to their troubled past (Although most Magazine reviewers put too much hype on HK-57, he wasn't that funny). The Gameplay was very solid, I appreciated the pause in time when ever you'd encounter an enemy so-as you can properly prepare for battle. I also liked the various weapons and upgrades you can aquire, although you'll find that you won't use half of them. The Graphics looked okay, but considering it was on the XBOX I expected more.

  Star Wars RPG!!!
Review created: 09/22/06

In a huge Star Wars world you must navigate and fight either for the light or dark side of the force to become a powerful jedi or evil sith. This game is huge, seriously. The only real problem is that you never ever even get to fight once. You have to tell your character what to do and they do it. You can't run up to someone and slash them with a lightsaber or any of that fun stuff. But at least you don't have to hack n' slash like the Jedi Knight series. Star Wars hardcore fans will love this game. RPG fans will love it as well. You can't really go wrong if you are in those two classes. Rent before you buy. Remember the Battlefront series is just as cheap as the KOTOR series so if you have to choose I would go for Battlefront. 4/5

  BORING!

Here is why I did not like this game. You had objectives to complete. Then you would run around in a central level and go to the objective level by loading to it. Once you got there, you had one little thing to do which was easily accomplished. Then you had to go back to the central level and talk to someone. Then, you would receive another mini objective and therefore have to run to another mini level and load again to it. Pretty soon all you were doing was loading back and forth between levels to do something minimal like flip a switch or something. This was the way the game worked through out. That got way way too old too quick. I could not get past this and it made me not finish the game. I took it back along with some other games and traded them in on Fatal Frame. Which was sweet. Instead of calling this game Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II, Sith Lords, they should have called it "Run around and load mini levels just to flip a switch until your eyes pop out." On the Kareoke Convention scale of fun, I give BELOW AVERAGE!

The game is one player only. It has at least 25+ hours of game play. The story starts out as a Sith lord who has lost is connection with the force. Has you go through the game you chose your powers, you skills and you destiny. Every choice has a effect. You will play the game over and over again. There are tons of different ways to go, note that the story does not change, but there are new items every time, new conversations, and some times new members to your team. I highly recommanded you play his game.

In this game you make your character and then go through a great story based in the Old Republic back when they were fighting the Sith... Your character can choose by his statements and actions whether he is a Jedi on the light side or a Dark Lord of the Sith it is up to you... Game has great graphics and storyline this game won game of the year and is a great buy now for about 19.00 at any Wal-mart.

Very good but some points of the game were difficult to pass. it is on the platnium hits list which means custmers can buy it for a cheap $19.99 at must electronic and toy stores. I suggest adding in the price of the item you may be bidding on with the price of the shipping and if its more then $19.99 go to walmart and buy it there for a cheaper price.

Looking for a RPG. Look no more! This is one of the best one's out there.
Why? For starters if your a Star Wars fan this game is a must get. If not
well then it still is. I've got to say the story is the best part, you can be good or bad with a different story with each path and once your done you'll want to play this game again, there will still be tons of thing to do! P.S. if you love this game you will love KOTOR 2.

As a Star Wars Freak this is the best game I have ever played. I would recomend this game to everyone I know. It is better for someone who a little older, young kids would be lost as to what was going on. There is a lot of reading to follow. Best Game Ever

This is one of my favorite xbox games, and that's saying something (I own about 40). 5 years after it came out its graphics are still no where near being out-dated (there's one view in particular on a tropical island that's absolutely breathtaking). Being able to choose the light side, dark side, or anywhere in between is fun, adding drastically to the replay value, along with being cool (you can easily beat this game 3 or 4 times and still have fun beating it again). The force powers you get are fun and look awesome, the story is deep and meaningful, and has an awesome ending (especially if you're evil). The many weapons, armor, side games, and allies that you can control are cool too. In my opinion it's even better than the second KotOR. 9.5 out of 10, if you don't have this game then you are definatley missing out.

Star Wars KOTOR is the greatest Star Wars Game Ever!!!

If you own a Xbox and do not own this game I suggest that you buy it now, even if you do not like RPGs. But if you enjoy Star Wars or RPGs this game will blow your mind. The storyline is wonderful and intriging. This game is also very exciting and will keep you addicted for at least 30 hours. The game has an awesome dialouge system where you choose what to say and do. You get good or bad points depending on your choices. That is by far the coolest thing about the game. No matter how many times you play through it is never the same. If you do not have this get it right away!!!

  Excellent RPG with multiple plays

The choice of the light or dark path combined with the many possible subplots makes KOTOR a game that can be played through several times. The racing and card mini-games also provide a great change of pace when you want a break from the main story line. KOTOR also allows the player to set a higher level of difficulty, which I found forces more tactical thinking. The story and characters are a lot of fun (a homicidal droid being a particular standout) and definitely capture the flavor of the films.

If you like RPG's (Role Playing Games) then this game is for you. The game is set in an earlier future of an unstable republic with many siths trying to dominate the region. The weapons are of a younger genre. And you must find your way around searching for items and people to assist you through your journey. You can also control the other people's actions when they are in your group for they can complete objectives with your main character or assist in operations that benefit your players objectives. Good game for RPG lovers, not a good game for first person shooter lovers.

  Review of Star Wars KOTOR
Review created: 08/03/08

2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

If you're a fan of the Star Wars universe and own an xbox, then this is the game for you. Star Wars KOTOR is set some 4000 years before the current movie timeline, and allows you to build your own character and mold them into a noble Jedi Knight or sinister Sith Lord.

The game itself is massive, with multiple (10!) worlds to explore, seemingly endless quests, vast amounts of inventory to find/construct and several (10 inlcluding yourself!) characters to form your galactic crusading party.

The graphics are great, and as mentioned, the content is extensive and vast considering this an original xbox game. The combat system is somewhat different (turn based, real time) and can take some getting used to. A good portion of the game involves dialogue, so if you don't like reading (or listening, if you turn the subtitles off) I wouldn't recommend this game as you will have a difficult time progressing.

Anyone who is a fan of RPG style gaming should own this game.

My son loves the game, he has most of the other Star wars games but this one is the most realistic in what you can do and how you can change wepons etc. I know he likes it better because since we got it every time I go to see what he is playing when he is on the X-Box he is playing this game. Useualy he will get tired of a game after a couple of days but not this game, it is great and highly recomended.
