Standing alone in it's genre.... what's not to like?

As far as ship to ship space combat games go, the Star Wars franchise has it pretty well sewn up. I've looked for another space fighter sim game on the original XBOX, but the closest I've found is that afterthought of a space combat system included in the Battlefront games... another Star Wars title. There's plenty of dogfighting games, air combat games, and shooters, but for space simulation combat on the Xbox this is the only title I've found.
As you can probably imagine, I was expecting the worst when I loaded this game up, but I was pleased to find my expectations were exceeded. Lucas' boys know how to make a good space sim game, and they've been setting all the standards in this genre since the DOS days. This title is more of the same from a long line of predecessors. The game is plot driven, with difficulty ranging from relatively simple standard mission objectives to red fury inducing impossible bonus objectives. There's plenty of rewards and goals to keep you coming back for more punishment on those too. Lucasarts has written the book on this type of game, and I am sure that's a literal truth.
In the end my only complaint is that I couldn't find Descent Freespace for the XBOX.
