This book is great to read. It gives you insight into some of the surviving Jedi's attitude and conflicts over what to do next after the Jedi purge. It also gives insight into the mess that Anakin has become inside of his new life giving armor. Anaki is kind of walking around in a daze in this book still upset over his decisions and the loss of Padme. The book also focuses on a few Jedi who have survived and their problem. They must figure out whether to fight or to hide. In the end Vader confronts the leader of Jedi remnant in a lightsaber duel. Vader feels very sluggish in his armor because it doesn't allow the quick movement he was known for. This duel unlocks Vaders rage and allows him to flow more into the dark side and become the great Sith Lord. This book is a definate read for any Star Wars fan.

Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader

Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader is a hardcover book that was released by
Del Rey in November of 2005. It was written by James Luceno.

Dark Lord takes place right after the events of Star Wars Episode 3.

Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader begins in the final hours of the Clone Wars,
just prior to the implementation of Order 66 as depicted in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. When a contingent of Republic clone troopers on the planet Murkhana refuses to open fire on Jedi Masters Roan Shryne and Bol Chatak, along with Padawan Olee Starstone, the Jedi with whom it has fought alongside during the war, Emperor Palpatine orders Vader to investigate the matter. Vader's query soon becomes a hunt for the fugitive Jedi, and takes him back to Coruscant, then onto Alderaan and Kashyyyk. During the course of Vader's search we discover the whereabouts of several other characters from Episode III, including Bail Organa, R2-D2 and C-3PO, Chewbacca, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. We also see the beginning of Vader's partnership with Moff Tarkin.

I love how the book shows us the internal struggles of Darth Vader. He is learning to adapt to his new persona as Vader. We see how he adapts to his new suit, how he eventually takes over the Vader persona and attacks Jedi!

The final chapters of Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader depict the beginning of the Imperial enslavement of the Wookiees of Kashyyyk, an act that will eventually lead to the partnership that develops between Han Solo and Chewbacca.

The novel ends with Obi-Wan Kenobi watching the infant Luke Skywalker as Qui-Gon Jinn's spirit tells Kenobi why Darth Vader will never return to Tatooine; because it is the whole of everything that was Anakin Skywalker, someone Vader wants to forget forever

I really loved this book. It is very interesting to see "inside Vader's Head".

5/5.
