Star Wars Animated Adventures - Droids (DVD, 2004)

With shows like Clone Wars now entertaining young audiences, one has to wonder if they should bother showing thier children anything that belongs in the original trilogy universe in terms of spin-offs, there was never a "definitive" animated series featuring Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Han Solo, etc, however, this show featured the two Droids.

"Droids" is NOT set AFTER the original trilogy, it's set BEFORE it, a series of five episode arcs featured R2-D2 and 3-PO having different adventures with a different matser with each new arc, it was something that was rare in shows of that decade, and it kep the premise fresh...the premise of the two droids going through various comedy acts, whilst being pursued by The Empire.

While this isn't the complete series that superfans have been waiting for, this is a decent release for those simply interested in a taste of the Droids cartoon. Think of it as the George Lucas Favorites collection, as the episodes contained in this release were chosen by George.
Its pretty fun spotting all the elements in Droids that later would influence the prequels.

As a huge Star Wars fan, this is a must in my collection. I never watched the series growing up, yet when I bought it, my kids loved it. Yes, I actually enjoyed it, too. It features Anthony Daniels as the voice of C-3PO, so it provided me the realistic feel of Star Wars. I just wish they would release all the Droids cartoons on DVD!

I bought this movie for my daughter, who is very much into the star wars, although she is only 7 and has not seen the movies. (Too Dark for her at her age.) She rented it, and loved it so much I had to buy her her own copy.

For starters, the seller advertised item falsely. The item I received was the wrong item shipped in the container of what I ordered...plus the container was a rip-off copy of the actual product (i.e. ex-library video). I was shipped the wrong item!!

FIRST OF ALL I LOVE ANYTHING STAR WARS. I LOVED THE MILITARY ASPECT OF THE MOVIE, AND THE ANIMATION STYLE. IT'S KIND OF A COMPUTER ANIMATED THUNDERBIRDS STYLE. OVERALL THE MOVIE WAS KIND OF CAMPY COMPARED TO THE TV SERIES WHICH IS DRAMATICALLY VERY DARK.
