Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Complete Series (DVD, 2007, 49-Disc Set)

This set is an authentic US product release (go to your stores and check it out) - it is not an import, but the cons still outweigh the pros, or in this case, the one pro. The main cons are the crappy green design, the shabby plastic disc booklet, which are basically 8 or 9 double sided disc holders taped together,and not including any kind of season/episode/description booklet hoping buyers would be satisfied with episode names on the discs. The one pro is that they do include a bonus disc with some new material which is interesting but not buying a new set for.
Basically some idiot said "Hey let's take a bunch of dvd trays, tape 'em together, burn the same dvds but let's change to a gaudy green label, stuff them in gaudy green box, slap on sub par bonus disc, of course let's not add anything more like commentaries, or do a better digital transfer, or add play all features, or finally allow the viewer to skip that long loading menu (it was cute for 10 secs) etc. and hope the fact that a complete set with a little bonus will make fans buy it."
To be fair getting a complete disc set is great - but you might as well buy a case logic folder to hold you dvds.
On the other hand the individual sets are dropping in value, they look great on display, and if you want, you can still use a case logicfolder to hold the discs.
I say screw the bonus disc - stick with the individual sets. Let's teach paramount not to release an inferior product just to gut us for more money. They had enough time to make significant improvements to the product. They simply don't care. So we should return the favor.

This was a very clear knock off. Poor Quality, both visual and audio. No FBI warnings or copy right warnings. Words on packaging are misspelled. Package came from China. The item I bought was a cheap imitation. $179 with shipping for $10. Be very cautious, Unless this item is used there is no way the retailer can sell it for less than $299.

I have rated this collection 'Excellent' because of the content and quality of the episodes that come with it, but the collection itself could have been handled with more consideration by Paramount. This was a 20th Anniversary edition of this series, yet the packaging is horrendously cheap. It arrived by mail cracked and chipped, and this was almost inevitable given the CHEAP plastic that was used. There is also not an episode guide for any one of the seven seasons. Let's hope you are a huge ST:TNG fan and can choose episodes by title alone...

I don't know what the other reviews are talking about. Mine has every episode of TNG in clear picture with all the different doctors (Crusher left for a while).

I love this cast. I wish they'd do another movie!

The show itselfs is awesome,i have always loved it. The set is great. The problem was the way it was cheaply made in China. The discs were warpped and it had to be returned.

Let me start out by saying I love Star Trek.For the Star Trek fan this is the ultimate collection! It has every single episode all in one package. So with that I would like to go over the good and not so good things about the collection.

1. The price was was good.I got it on Ebay. For the money I spent on this, I would paid for only Three seasons had I bought it separatly.So I'd say I got a good deal!
2. It is the complete collection!! All seasons from 1-7 all wrapped up to go.

1. The packaging is terrible. The container it goes into is nice,but that is it. The trays are brittle and tend to break(It broke right after I got it).
The discs want to come out without any prompting of it's owner.
2.There is no episode guide!!!! The only way you know what is showing on what discs is by looking on the discs themselves. The episodes are printed on the discs in very small print that you can hardly read.
3. There is no extra goodies!!!! Oh it comes with a small poster but I would hardly call that a worth-while extra. You would think that they could come up with somthing good to put in there instead of just trying to make a quick buck.

Product received was correct and enjoyed it but I recieved no communication and item came from China which was not where I was informed it would come from. I would not do business with them again.

Star Trek The Next Generation Complete Series 20th Anniversary edition is totally awesome!
it's a compact package..all the discs are labeled and in order. each disc tells you the season..the disc number of that season..and the episodes contained on the disc with the star date and original air date. thats all the info i need. and the best thing about it is the compact design of the packaging...some people might want the seperate seasons to display but realy...unless i have a specific "shrine" to star trek then its just a waste of space. anybody interested in this series..i highly recommend this version,...for the "completists" out there i suggest you get both.

I bought this for my husband who is a fan of "The Next Generation". Make sure when you buy this that it is coming from a reputable source because I ended up with a knock off copy the first time I tried to buy it.

Don't be fooled by this product, it is a cheap bootleg version from china with horrible video quality.

It was nice to have all episodes on one set. The names on the disk themselves were very tiny, and I had to use a magnifier glass to read them, And there was no chapter or episode list. So I had to look for one online. Plus seveal of the disk holders were broken so the disk kept falling out of its clips. The sound and picture quality could be better.

I too, can't review an item I never received. The customer service was terrible. Even after several emails and contacts I neither got a tracking number or the product. Still working on getting a refund. My advice is if you're looking for star trek, look elsewhere.

I love exploration, which Star Trek compliments the most out of a lot of the series I've watched so it was just a matter of time before I decided to pickup the series. I love it, it comes in an awesome case and the DVDs were mastered wonderfully. Oh, and DVD sets are meant to be watched so to all who complain "OMG one of cases has a crack in it!!!" If the DVDs are fine who gives a smeg! The only real gripes I have is the fact the episodes aren't remastered, but I can tell what's going on and the clarity may not be HD, but its ultimately awesome to be able to watch the series at my leisure. Someday they may remaster them, but until then I'll "Boldy Go..." with the set I currently have :~).

P.S. To Paramount: You should consider a campaign where you digitally remaster ALL the series and make them available via some digital download source ie. Netflix, Xbox, etc.

All the discs were in great condition but I was surprised to find Chinese/Japanese (?) characters on the DVD cover and tested them all out to make sure there were Asian subtitles or something. My first reaction was anger cause I thought I had been jipped but the actual episodes are fine!

To me, Star Trek: The Next Generation as a series is a wonderful continuation of an increadible journey through the hopeful vision of a better future for mankind. Throughout it's run on television from 1987 to 1994, it won many awards, including a coveted Peabody award, as well as several Emmy's. More importantly, it has spoken to the hearts and minds of millions as a show that prompts introspection and encourages thought provoking examination of what it means to be human; and how difficult a journey we have as a species to overcome our faults and not just survive, but grow. One does not have to be a fan, even of science fiction, to appreciate the many episodes that challenge our perspectives and address issues and quandries that have plauged mankind ever since we arose from our primeval origins. Presented by a cast and crew of immense talent and vision, it succeded well in relighting the torch ignighted by the original series, and carrying it to ever higher peaks of excellence.

The product is very clear (DVD SET) and in good condition. My son,who received it, as a Christmas present. Likes IT.

The communication with the seller was excellent. The problem was that the box of the dvds was smelling pretty bad like humidity and it was actually having a bit of moss. You are a very good seller, just check your distribuitors.
