Now that these sets are finally affordable you should definitely look into picking them up. The Complete Third Season, while being almost universally recognised as the weakest of the three, is still filled with great episodes, brilliant moments and unforgettable lines. The highlights are televisions first interracial kiss. A knock down drag out Klingon battle on the Enterprise and Kirk switching bodies with an ex-girlfriend.
As with a lot of DVD sets of old television shows, the special features are key. If I had known about the tribute to "Red Shirts," those brave men who gave their lives in the first 15 minutes of nearly every episode to prove the situation was serious and their agents were desperate, I might have given up my VHS collection earlier. Also, a nostalgic interview with James Doohan which was probably one of his last and a silly interview with Walter Koenig, in which he shows off his Checkov action figure collection. This is definitely a must for the casual and hard core fan.

) I admit it, I am nuts about Star Trek, and if it is a sin, I'd gladly go to hell for that. Star Trek might for some be only a TV series, but for a real Trekkie like myself, it is more than that. It is inspirational.
With this purchase, I was finally able to complete my collection of the very first Star Trek Series, and so far I haven't grown tired of it yet.

I don't understand some people's comments about this show! Season 3, in my opinion, has some of the best episodes in the original Star Trek series. I haven't watched all of them yet, but I didn't see anything that appeared to suffer from the low budget, anymore than Season's 1 or 2. Maybe that's because I'm a Trekkie fan, but I don't think so. Sure, Star Wars and Babylon 5 were better special effects, but that's mostly because George Lucas could put a lot of money into more recent technology - Star Trek didn't have access to that technology, or the money to do it, because the studios wouldn't give them any funding! If you want to blame someone for the lack of foresight, blame Paramount!!!

) We bought it because we bought the other 2 earlier. We just last night 3-1-7 started watching it. We watched the first two episodes. The quality was great. I didn't want to review it until we had watched some of it. I hope the rest will be just as good.

Star Trek-The OriginalThis set is an outstanding set of dvd's. They were bought as a gift and I was not sure what I was getting. When I saw the color and graphics I was amazed. You can even sit in the captains chair when you start this movie. Surround sound will make you feel as if you are headed for outerspace. Fantastic buy.
